		<description>Great post

A great deal of corporate computing is dedicated to email marketing and web-based marketing media.

All of that computing and digital media storage and streaming media has a massive carbon footprint.

In fact, The US Energy Information Administration determined that US data center and server electrical consumption in 2006 was over 60 Billion Kilowatts. That resulted in the emission of over 60 million tons of greenhouse gasses... roughly the same amount as the US aviation industry. Data Center and Server energy consumption doubled between 2000 and 2005... and will double again by 2010 if we do not change the way we compute and communicate.

Using dedicated servers rather than virtualizing is like using SUVs instead of mass transit.

To learn about what you can do to green your digital and print media applications, save the date and plan to attend SustainCommWorld: The Green media Show on October 1-2 in Boston.
