Vps and the world?

Posted on December 29th, 2006 by Jag

I know many people are wondering when they look at sits such as JaguarPC and many other, what is a VPS?

A VPS is short for Virtual Private Server. Now this far from answers the question What is a VPS.

A Virtual Private Server is the gap between a shared environment and a fully dedicated environment. A VPS will simulate a dedicated server which in all reality a shared environment from which you take the resources of one major “Super Server” and divide it between virtual nodes. Each Virtual node runs independent from each other with its own file system, resources, and its own shell in essence. Virtual Private Server’s are just becoming hot items on the market for software developers, and startup web hosts. They allow you the features of a $100+ server for normally $20-35.

Upgrade Plesk

Posted on September 17th, 2006 by Jag

Hey everyone,Que – How to upgrade Plesk Control Panel ?Ans -

Can be done from node or from vps.

first find out which version are on the node:

vzpkgfind psa

then run

vzpkgadd VPSID psa-rh9/20050810

Which will, in this case, install Plesk reloaded template dated by 2005-08-10. VPSID is id of a vps, and “psa-rh9/20050810” is the plesk template version available on the node.

If you do it from vps, you need do download the .rpm.tar.gz build file and untar it, and then

rpm -Uvh /root/psa/PSA_7.5.4/rpm_RedHat_9/base/*.rpm

and then the same for ../opt directory.

Best Regards,
Shane Bewick
Enjoy
