My concern is more about how badly the programme was planned, executed and handled.
Were conversions good, or do they have to wait 90 days to be verified just like the rest of the affiliate programs before they count towards the contest? Was that spelled out anywhere? Were there any rules other than being 18, US resident and "in good standing" (where? in my town, church or the affiliate program?) When would the prize be delivered? How would the selection process be handled? What oversight would there be? Were JAG employees eligible? How about Apple employees? Is Apple OK with their product being promoted in emails in this kind of promotion? (Usually there are restrictions on those sort of things) Was Apple OK with their name being used in a commercial communication? Was their copyright/trademark acknowledged in the emails or in the blog ad or in the forum ad?

Oh Bell Thorpe: I got your email, I'm not ignoring it. I've been away from my desk where it is! I'll respond in a day or so.
    Good luck

I just assumed my email had been gobbled up by your new, zealous approach to spam filtering!

Oh Lord.... micro analyzing a contest/give away. Such a shame.

I would say questioning if a contest is on the "up and up" sounded like there was doubt on integrity of the contest.

After this thread, I doubt they will ever do it again.

golovo, I'm sorry to repeat myself, but you really don't understand the concept of 'transparency', do you?

I didn't suggest that the contest wasn't on the up and up. I said that there was no evidence that it was. You should know by now that I choose my words very carefully, so as to say exactly what I mean. No more, and no less.

You are exactly right, I did not understand what you meant. That is why I said, asking if something is on the "up and up" sounded like the integrity was questioned. My mistake, I apologize.

Like I said, I think they are running an honest ordeal, just taking a little time to give people results.

Also, golovo? Insult or how am I to take that? My point is, posts can be very hard to take/understand due to lack of emotion.

You shouldn't need their permission at this point in the game, it should have been a requirement for participation.

    You know, in the rules.

    What if they say no?
    Good luck

I'm now out of the affiliate programme

I guess we have different definitions of 'soon'. I didn't realise that 'soon' meant 'more than three months'.

I just looked at the banners available, and find that the Gigadeal is still featured, and here's a screen shot from another.

So far I've had 674 people click-through to JPC, without a credited sale. Of those 674, 86 were qualified, in that they came to the site where I had the banner, looking for web-hosting.

I find it very surprising that there's not a single sale from that number of clicks. Could it be that ... no, cancel that thought.

Anyway, the banners come off today.

Bell thorpe I will not get into the marketing statistics with you because I am sure you already know that conversion rates for the entire Internet are under 3% and that a visitors normally does not turn into a customer the first time they see a new brand.

The gigadeal is still on there because some clients decided to hotlink the banners instead of download them. With tens of thousands of affiliates, it was impossible to contact them and and find which ones still were hot linking to it. Instead we left the banner live and uploaded the other banners. I'm sure by pointing to the dedicated server slide on that banner you are referring to the price. We do have $69/month dedicated servers in our bargain bin section of our site.

The banner which you took a screenshot of, those are the new banners.

Bargain bin? Sure, but that's not what someone see when they're pointed to the dedicated server page, is it?

Affiliates are welcome to link the banners to any URL on our website they choose. The particular banner covers all product lines and I would recommend to send visitors to the Jag homepage. You are also welcome to send visitors directly to our bargain bin page which is located within our dedicated server hosting area. That is completely up to you.
