I have a client who will need an ssl in the next day or so and has inquired about what I have available through Jag. She mentioned Verisign which is not something I want to do but I'm going to need to give a choice - with a "badge" on the site. I have a site with an ssl from Jag but may need to go to a well known vendor here. Any suggestions or comments?

Since basically all SSL certs do the same thing, the thing you are buying is the name. Verisign is, obviously, the most well known but also the most expensive. Thawte is a bit cheaper, GeoTrust is even cheaper (and ironically Verisign owns them both). All offer a product that is recognized by virtually all browsers in use today.

Thanks. Once I presented the the various prices they elected the "generic".
