    Mail list manager?

I have a list of member email addresses, and I'd like to send out a quarterly newsletter.

I would like the script or whatever to send out the newsletter, perhaps personalizing the name (and maybe an opt-out message) and handle bounces automatically, perhaps differently marking bad addresses and temporary failures.

Some of the addys are old, so I'd guess I'm going to have a 25 to 50% bounce rate for the first mailing.

Will a mail list manager do this (simple?) set of tasks? Anyone have experience with any such tool?
    Good luck

    Just to clarify...

I'm not looking for a listman type thing where people respond to the list and the list sends emails. I'm really looking for a one-way system (plus bounce handling).
    Good luck

I can half asure you that there is a free one im starting to use as I have ditched aweber, parabot.com does alot of what you have asked for and its now free of charge and one of the best autoresponders on the market if you ask me...

I have tryed alot and they are either outdated or come with a big price tag, this one is fully free and licensed.

    Enjoy

Thanks for your thoughts, but I can't find info on parabot.com - that website is under construction...

I see there might be one called openEMM http://www.openemm.org/ it looks like a little bit of overkill..., and I'm not sure I can use it on a shared account. I can't find its manual to read about it... although in many posts on their forum the mods tell people to go read it. sheeesh.
    Good luck

sorry missed the s at the end http://parabots.com/ I should of checked or it would of come up in google

with this one above you can control email flood, so even jag tech will tell you that on a shared you will need this
as if you want to send 1000 emails there needs to be a flood control in play to not blast them straight out as it looks suspius
and will most certainly get you in trouble but there is not rush to set it up and everything is controlled via every setting going and the ease of use. everything is really self explanatory if you have used auto responders before.

phplist! been around for some time and gets updated often best of all it is free unlike MailChimp. I also like googles feedburner. I used phplist for some time then switched to feedburner and use a blog for the emails.

RON I SUGGEST PHPLIST FOR YOU.

Is there a good installation/setup manual for phpList? I can't seem to find it. I must be blind.
    Good luck
