    Php 5.2.3

I just tried installing a new Gallery package from Fantastico De Luxe. It fails to run, giving a 404 error, because it requires PHP 5.2.3 and 5.2.17 is installed in the server. I tried two other photo packages, and they both failed as well in the same manner, presumably for the same reason (although not verified).

When will PHP be updated to the latest version? It seems rather useless to your users to upgrade Fantastico but not the things it requires to run. At present, it is completely broken.

If 5.2.17 is installed on the server then it is greater than 5.2.3. Therefore the latest version is already installed on the server.

Please make sure you select php5 as your default php from cPanel > PHP Configuration screen. It appears you are using php4. If this does not help, please open a support ticket from your client dashboard.

5.2.17 is the last stable in that series. 5.3.x is a new series which will break websites using many popular open source web apps. It will be a disaster upgrading to it at this point in time, but eventually it will be upgraded with notification to clients on shared servers with a proper planning and execution like we always do.

Thanks for the reply. I went to the PHP Configuration screen, and it is set to "System Default". On line 14, it says "By default php CLI is php5". I can manually set it to PHP 5, but given this, my assumption was that it is using PHP 5. I wouldn't think hard-coding it to PHP 5 is a good idea unless I was using something that required PHP 5, which I am not. Seems like defaulting to the system default is better. Are you saying that using the system default is giving me PHP 4?

New servers have PHP 5 as default PHP but few older servers still have PHP4 set as default. Please open a support Ticket so that we could assist you further.

I am opening a ticket, but please be aware that when I type "php -v" on the commandline of a shell, it comes back with 5.2.17.

Servers that have both php4 and php5, the CLI version is always php5. So you are getting the correct response when you type "php -v".
