If you are a php developer, do not waste time looking into rails. Just go to http://www.cakephp.org![]()
[~]# rails guestbook
[~]# cd public_html/
[~/public_html]# ln -s ../guestbook/public guestbook
[~]# cd ~/guestbook
[~/guestbook]# ruby script/generate controller MyTest
At this point I get 'Routing Error Recognition failed for "/MyTest"'. The error persist whether i go on to define index in app/controllers/my_test_controller.rb or not. Any ideas?
thanks

Oh I hope someone's still checking up on this thread. I've been trying the little guestbook demo in this post and a few other introductory tutorials and as much as I play around with url structures, creating and running the app from cpanel, messing with controllers and running the app from both my root folder or my public_html one I still cant get any of them to run on my account (gigadeal).
As a concrete example, on the demo explained in this post when I load up http://darkdiamond.net/guestbook/MyTest I get redirected to my custom 404 page. Is it something to do with .htaccess? I've been messing with this for 4 days now and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Nahu,
I'd suggest opening a support ticket. It could be that Rails isn't set up properly on your server.
