UNLIMITED FTP SITE - Great for backups, etc.

I found a great solution to backups through WHM.

The best web based file manager and a real network drive are just a few reasons why OLSEX is the finest platform in Cloud Storage.
    •Web based access
    •Secure CIFS Network Drive
    •Rsync Backup Engine
    •FTP and Dav Access
    •Advanced File Sharing Features

Unlimited Space Just $29 per year / I got 2 years for $39.00

It is unlimted SPACE, UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH!

This is awesome and seems to work great with WHM.

Online Storage With Unlimited Space $29 Per Year

The only issue I have so far, which I just installed today, is when I go in to WHM, and select Restore backup, it does not see it. I wonder if it is because I selected to compress the backup?

It backups to the FTP perfectly though.

Interesting solution, but I would be wary, that is very cheap for unlimited. I'm sure there is some sort of fair usage policy on that somewhere that states you can only use a few hundred gig or something. Be careful. Funny name too, almost sounds like some adult industry name!

    Q. Is the space really unlimited?

    A. We do not limit the amount of space you use for your account. We also don't slow you down based on total data storage. We offer the only really unlimited online storage.

    Q. I have a group of users that need access to files with the system work for me?

    A. Yes this is the perfect application for our Virtual service. All your users will have access to all the data or parts of the data depending on how you setup the service. There are no limits to the number of users that can work with the system.

    Q. I am going to re-install my computer what is the best way to backup my files before I do it.

    A. When I am going to re-install my system I make sure everything I need is stored in my IFolders, get an up-to-date sync, Check Online and make sure everything is there and then go ahead and do the re-install. Once I am done I install IFolder and everything goes back to the correct place.

    Q. Can I Stream Things From the service?

    A. Yes you can stream from our servers.

    Q. I allow users to download files from my website, can I use your service?

    A. Yes, you can use our service as a download server or mirror for your files.

    Q. Me and a group of friends on the IRC like to collect copyrighted files and share them, is your service a good match for this.

    A. No, you can not use our service for the unlawful trading of files, we will remove your account if we discover this type of activity.

    Q. Will you help me if I am have a problem.

    A. We always do our best to help users with any issues they are having.

    Q. Where are your based?

    A. Oklahoma City, OK United States

    Q. Is this a Home Based Business?

    A. No, we are based in a sky scraper in downtown Oklahoma City, some staff members do work from home sometimes, that's one of the nice benefits of the Internet.

    Q. Where are your servers.

    A. We own and operate our own data center in Oklahoma City, we do not utilize Co-Locationed or Outsourced for Data Operations.

    Q. Are the services reliable?

    A. Yes, you can expect to have access to your data 99%+ of the time. We will have to do maintenance sometimes and sometimes things break and require repair. As our technology get's better so does our uptime.

    Q. Will the service work for everyone?

    A. About 97% of our customers are happy with the service and it works well from them. Sometimes a customer does not have the Internet Connection or they do not have good routes from far away countries to make the service useful. In that case we are more than happy to provide a refund.

    Q. Do I need to be an expert to use the service.

    A. No, you can be very new to cloud computing and still get a lot out of our virtual service. We provide simple step by step multi-media guides for most common tasks.

    Q. How long does it take to get my account?

    A. After you pay you will activate your account online and it will be ready for use.

    Q. I paid but I don't know what to do next?

    A. Sometimes PayPal does not redirect users back to the activation link after they signup using a credit card, simply click the "Return To IIC Internet" link and you will be sent to the activation page. If you have already clicked off the PayPal site just email us and we will get that link to you.

    Q. Your prices are lower than some other services, why?

    A. We provide an open platform based on open source software, we don't advertise very much, and we are not VC Funded, and don't plan to go public any time soon. This allows us to actually make a reasonable profit on the service and change less to our customers. It's amazing what you can do when you focus on delivering value, stay away from the Fast Money Guys, and use the resources of the Internet to the maximum advantage of your customers.

I hope that your just using them as a secondary backup not primary backup.

You should have a local copy, in your office on a pc you own and control, distributing backups to the cloud is fine but I still want local copies.

Second I do not see anything with regards to privacy, data ownership, authorised use of that data, etc, that has me very scared...

I am not saying you should or should not, The service may be a great honest solution, they just may not have all of the policies they should posted.

It just sounds like your using it to backup your websites, I personally prefer to keep local backups on a server/pc here in my home/office, not with a service I do not have direct control over.

Using external services for backup no matter who it is means you have no direct control over the data, What happens if they go out of business? Do you know what kind of security they have?

At minimum I would look in to seeing if there is a way to encrypt the data being sent to the cloud for storage, this way no matter what their policy is, or if they go under the data can not be access by anyone but you. Esp if your backing up Emails/databases or other sources that could contain sensitive or valuable data...

Awesome advice Ancient. I will start keeping a local copy of everything, and then an encrypted version on the cloud for safekeeping.

    You rock!

Backup copies are a necessity as most of us know. But, even the best backup systems can fail and this is one of the reasons why you need a redundant system of some sort. External services are getting better and better and many are trustworthy sources for backups. It depends on how important your data is to you. Some want at least two different sources for backups. Many are satisfied with online backup sources while others with security or sensitive data issues may need to keep the data on a home drive or PC. Whatever you ultimate choice is the fact that one other copy is available is great but two backup copies will ensure you are ready for a restore should a recovery be necessary.

All website backups of mine are of course on my PC. Which itself is backed up to a Linux machine in the same room daily. Which itself is completely backed up to another Linux machine daily.

I also have another VPS (not JPC) in Europe, and weekly backups are automatically made from my JPC sites to that machine.

    Bell thorpe,

Thank you for some great ideas. I have everything backed up on my local computer, and I am going to build a server, locally for backups. I was thinking of trying ubuntu server. Figured it may pay to mess around with ubuntu.

Do you like ubuntu? (for a local server, basically for backups)

    Thanks!

The real reason for the Linux system is for testing. I write my own CGI, for example. But even with static sites, nothing goes live onto a JPC server without being tested on my own server first. Links, scripts, images, etc. It's also my mail server.

I've never used Ubunto, I use Zenwalk. However, were I starting from scratch today, I'd probably use CentOS, as that's what's used on most hosts.

If Australia had a decent amount of bandwidth on home internet, i'd be backing up locally. *sigh* VPS's elsewhere will have to do for me.
    Aussieone and nayan007 like this.
