    mySQL vs. mySQLi

I'm working on migrating my Joomla 1.5 installs to Joomla 1.7. I choose SP Update as the migration script, but it prefers mySQLi. In my Fantastico installed Joomla 1.7, I see it as an option post-install.

What I'm curious about, is if it is even available within my reseller and shared VPS accounts. Likewise, is this something that can be specified post-install without borking a database?

The mySQLi extension is available in php by default on our shared servers. If you have a vps with cPanel, it should be available, but please do open a support ticket and we will confirm it for you.
