they said they only have 2 backups .... one from a month ago and one yesterday .... daily backups!!! Why advertise if you don't do it?
Delivering what is advertised, DAILY BACKUP. If you need more than daily backup, you can do your own backups as many times as you need: http://www.jaguarpc.com/services/backups.php

Wow...that's rough. Though it is unfortunate for you, JPC has exactly what they advertise: daily backups. The servers are backed up once a day. No claim is made as to how long those backups will be maintained and when you are dealing with the terabytes-upon-terabytes of data that JPC has on their servers, keeping backups around long term is increadiby expensive and more than the $10-$50/month that you are likely paying for service can cover. If you learn anything from this, hopefully it will be to keep your own backups.

As for what happened with your public_html, it is impossible to say without knowing more about the script you are running and/or seeing your server logs. You should be able to access your access logs from cPanel. Comb through them looking for any suspicious activity--like URLs with unexpected query string paramerters attached to them. Catastropic loss like this is usually caused by a small handful of possibilities:

    * A bug in a script was exploited by someone
    * The script was configured improperly
    * The script was written poorly or was designed to work in an environment set up differently than the one on which you are using it.

If you let us know the script you are using we might be able to help you out a little more.

Looks like a bunch of pages with lots of Google ads. most of which are not for what I would call "developer tools." Gee...isn't using ad blocks as the main content of the page against Google's TOS?

I need the BEST Video Sharing system for an SDX or dedicated plan

    Hi folks,

I want to offer video sharing to the membership of one of my sites and I am looking for opinions on those types of systems. While cost is always a factor, I am looking for best-of-breed so I'm willing to spend, but I don't think a custom coded setup is within my budget.

    1) I want the best encoding and compression (to flash, I assume); I want the video to sync with the audio well. Perhaps there should be a queuing system on the conversions to prevent system overlaoding.
    2) I want good management capabilities.
    3) I would like an authentication scheme bridge to a BB (details privately); I assume this might need some custom coding if not readily available.
    4) It would be really good if it could run on SDX -- I don't expect all that much traffic from my members.

Anyone with experience with these, especially if you would say "I bought XYZ, but I sure wish I had bought ZYX instead"???

    Thanks.
    Good luck

I am not familiar with scripts like that but I did hear about one script when US cert issued a security alert for this week:

    http://www.vshare.in/

That alone is not a very good selling point since it is wide open for SQL injection attacks but maybe it is something you can work off. The US Cert alert can be found at:

    http://www.us-cert.gov/cas/bulletins/SB08-140.html

Plus this script looks like one of those pyramid scheme things where you buy resale rights to a program and the resell it.
