    AOL, SPAM, etc...

I got 27 bounces from AOL today.

SMTP error from remote mailer after initial connection:
host mailin-01.mx.aol.com [64.12.138.57]: 554-(RLY:B1) The information presently available to AOL indicates this
554-server is generating high volumes of member complaints from AOL's
554-member base. Based on AOL's Unsolicited Bulk E-mail policy at
554-http://www.aol.com/info/bulkemail.html AOL may not accept further
554-e-mail transactions from this server or domain. For more information,
    554 please visit http://postmaster.info.aol.com.
    any ideas?

Matt just got the same thing this morning. The e-mail that bounced was
a confirmation letter that is sent when some one signs up for our news letter.

Looks like Jag servers are on AOL'S Spam list again.

That seems likely. And if Matt didn't initiate the emails in some fashion himself, there's a good chance that he's been spoofed. That is, someone (or worm) has used an address at Matt's domain as the return address.

Hmmm, these emails were letters that were a lot like confirmation letters...

I know the guy who initiated them, and I told him they didn't get through, but if someone has been spoofing my domain, I haven't noticed it.

It's not your domain they block really. It's the server usually. I usually notice it says the server and not my domain.

Good point. Thought that was clear, but maybe not. For those interested, much more is available on the topic if one searches the forums on the term "AOL".

BTW, if spoofed (and it sounds like you weren't in this case, since you can account for the original messages), you'd likely be seeing bounces from multiple sources.
