Do you have Satellite Radio?

I've had Sirius Satellite Radio for about three months now, and I really enjoy it. If you have never heard of Sirius, they have 60 commercial free music channels, plus 40 news/talk/sports channels. Sirius has a channel for almost every genre you can think of, including 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, Hot AC, Christian Contemporary, Rap, R&B, New Country, Classic Country, Bluegrass, Classic Rock, Modern Rock, Hard Rock, Alternative, Metal, Soft Rock, Dance, Disco, Regge, Jazz, Broadway, Ambience, Classical, Opera, Praise, and many more.

The day after Thanksgiving they started playing 24-hour Christmas music on channel 100. I love Christmas music, so I have been listening to that stream constantly. I enjoy the 50's, 60's, County, Dance, Alternative, and Classic Rock channels the most. They are really good, and the one thing I like most about the music channels is that they don't have many repeats like regular radio stations do. The no commercial aspect is also appealing. I also enjoy listening to Fox News, Sirius Comedy, C-Span, Bloomberg Radio, Radio Disney, the Right Talk Channel, Sirius Kids, and too many others to mention. Suffice it to say I love the programming! I can't wait to take a road trip with my Sirius Radio.

I have a freind that has XM, the other satellite radio provider, and I have listened to that some too. XM is good, but it has some commercials on about half of it's music channels. It also plays a lot of songs that are not very well known. I like Sirius because they always have a song playing that I know and like. I also hear a lot of new music that I have never heard before, and I like a lot of that too. Satellite radio is WAY better than FM radio, regardless of which one you choose. If you are thinking about getting a satellite radio this holiday season, you should definitely check out this Comparison Chart descibing the features of the various Plug & Play units that are available. My personal recommendation is the AudioVox SRS PNP 2. Audiovox will be releasing a boombox that the SRS will plug into. You can get the SRS2 for 99.99 at Circuit City. You can also order it online. I have the H2A myself, because the SRS was not available when I purchased my setup. I might sell my H2A and get the SRS though, just so I can get the boombox.

If you like Christmas music, take a listen to stream 100. I've been listening to it all day, and I love it.

Not sure if we have any Satellite radio setups in the UK, apart from the ones broadcast on the analog and digital Satellite TV network. The latest technology over hear is digital DAB radio which fits in nicely alongside the digital TV we've had for 3-4 years now.

I think the end effect is much the same, although the network is public like normal radio and not a closed circuit type system like the ones you mentioned above. It means you get the commercial stations but you also have the non-commercial BBC selection too.

I don't think I'll sign up for a Sat. Service until they offer local programming.

What kind of local programming would you want on Sat Radio? Traffic, local whether, or local news? You can always switch to local radio once in a while for that.
