I'm in Westchester County, just above NYC. I'm not sure, but I think we got about 18-20".
Either way I know I'll be shoveling all day tomorrow. I shoveled twice today, and both times the plow came by afterwards and blocked my driveway with another 3 feet!
Funny we havent got any snow here in nothern europe yet.
Snow is nice, it´s so dark here without it, depressing![]()
No sign of snow in the UK yet either, fairly warm too 4-6 C.
More should be on the way for you snow bound Easterners next week, if the rain we've been getting out here is any indicator. The Sierras received a healthy new blanket of snow last night. But further west, it's nice and mostly sunny today. Temps in the mid 60s F (18 C) right now. Almost time to cut back the roses.
Although I don't miss all that sidewalk/driveway shoveling and windshield ice scraping, the holidays never seem quite the same when one is still having to mow the lawn and rake leaves in December.![]()

Well, not much here in Rochester yet (there's snow on the ground but you can still see the grass through it), but I was back home in western Mass for the weekend and ended up digging my truck out of about 18-20" of the white stuff before I could leave. When I left they were saying Boston had about two feet and it was still coming down.

Hey, bros, watch the 4-letter words. We call it 'white stuff' here.
EDIT: Sorry, jason! You said it correctly. I worked 55 hours overtime this week and all my synapses aren't firing right now...

I thought about using the other word, but decided "stuff" would be more appropriate. Its funny, when I was moving to Rochester everyone back home warned me about how much snow I'd get up here. So far I think every year since I've moved they ended up with as much or more snow than me....

Jason, shhh, unless you want to tempt Fate.![]()
Buffalo is the city in New York that always seems to garner the big blizzard press in the national news, although there's been little mention of it this time.

Fate? Ehh...I don't care. I don't mind the snow.
Yes, Buffalo is known for its snow. They get all the lake effect stuff off of Lake Erie until it freezes over, usually in January. We get some lake effect snow off of Ontario (which doesn't freeze over), but most of it heads south and west of us toward Syracuse and Binghamton. A couple years ago I was home during Thanksgiving (I think) and Buffalo was getting whacked with over 3 feet of snow! I kept checking the Internet weather sites and they were reporting zero inches in Rochester. I couldn't believe it and figured the measurements weren't being updated for some reason (I'm only an hour east of Buffalo), but sure enough, there was nothing to speak of here. Funny how that works...

The weather is strange. It dumps a ton of snow or several inches of rain in one area and a few miles down the road nothing is happing.
I like snow too. Unfortunately 6" or so will shut me down for several days due to my physical location. I'm in the sticks. Employees can't get to work. UPS can't get in to pickup or deliver.
Jason. Glad to hear that you have been in the path of winter storms that have kept the problems to a minimum.

We got between 4 and 6 inches of snow yesterday... its our first real snow of the yearand to think, it was 60 degrees here last week.
OK, we've got snow now. It snowed last night from about the time I got hoem from work into the late night. I haven't been outside yet, but it looks like we got about 6-8" although its hard to tell from a third floor apartment. They're saying that we may have 16-20" by the end of the weekend. Then it will be close to 50 degrees by mid-week! Gotta love Rochester. They say if you don't like the weather around here wait five minutes...
Well, having snow on the groun will help my scout troop sell more Christmas trees, so I'm off to freeze my butt on the tree lot for four hours now.

We got 4" to 7" last week end, got the same amount last night.
Looks like we may have a White Christmas. ![]()
