U.S.: Who are you voting for?

If you're a democrat, who are you voting for?

I don't mean to start a political firestore, I'm just curious.

Personally, I'm so disappointed that Kerry is in the lead. He's my own Senator and yet, I dislike him. I'm also disappointed that Dean ruined himself in Iowa with his temper. If he's still in the race come March, I'll vote for him. If not, my vote goes to Edwards.

No matter what though, I'm rather glum and pessimistic about the possibility of a United States without Bush next year.

Also, if you're not voting, why not?!

    Bush

(You know you're asking for trouble by asking this don't you, Clio?)

As a Bay State native, I don't the prospect of Kerry becoming President, either. That's almost as bad as one of my current state's senators (you all know the one) becoming President.

I'm a Teamster vice-president in real life, and I've voting for George Bush. I'm so tired of [edit]...CONTENT REMOVED BY ADMIN BECAUSE VINDSL WAS BEING VINDSL...[/edit] Michael Moore, I could ralph...

IMHO, this thread has generated some rather odd replies to the original question, which Clio directed at those who consider themselves Democrats.

I'm curious, if you have stated here that you will be voting for Bush, do you still consider yourself basically a Democrat, or have you in the recent past? I'm guessing not, that most of the posters here were simply stating their presidential preference, even if not members of the group being polled. But if so (that is, you are indicating some kind of Democrat to Republican crossover effect), what has prompted that for you?

Hm, these always turn out to be ugly threads. Let's try to make it not ugly.

So, another question: why people vote and/or don't vote.

Before, right when I turned 18, I was REALLY excited to vote. So, now I'm in college and I've taken a few political science courses, which generally refer to economists. I'm taking economics now, which makes me think even more: why bother voting if your vote doesn't count? Even if I vote for someone other than Kerry, he'll win anyway - so why bother voting?

I do say, college has made me rather more pessimistic about the whole political system. Hmph.

I've held elective office since 1986, so you'll have to trust me on this. Your individual vote, indeed, means nothing.

LMAO...The only purpose served by your "individual" vote is the illusion of legitimacy created therein.

As a single dad, native Texan, and decorated Veteran, I can't believe the number of minority (read Hispanic) votes Bush received (read conned) in 2000.

How can you trust a man who raises over 100 million in campaign contributions with such ease?

The President is a puppet...has been, is, and will be.

Doesn't matter what Democrat I vote for, Bush wins again.

If he was lied to about WMDs then he should show the "proof" used to convince him.

If he sent our troops to die without proof (even fabricated proof) then he is just incompetent (perhaps criminally negligent).

How can you trust a man who's taken both sides of virtually every major debatable issue (Kerry)? I don't think he knows where he stands on anything, aside from the fact that he's standing up.

You can always make similar "How can you trust a man who...." statements for any and all of the candidates.

So who can we trust? Guess we have to keep swapping them out until we find one that works...kinda like troubleshooting your pc without tools.

I just don't like the way Bush has handled Afghanistan, Iraq, Haiti, nor the economy. So I will vote for Kerry. However, I don't think he possesses the necessary "vision" and I don't think he will win.

We will have Georgy for another 4 by which time things will be so screwed up the Rebuplicans won't stand a chance. Then we can elect Hillary! (If she gets a divorce) LMAO.

Of course I laugh...too bad the joke is on me.
