We might stand a better chance at distributed.net

Not a good chance, just a better one, and actually have the opportunity to do some real good by finding a new Optimal Golumb Ruler...

Maybe there are better (worthwhile, under-manned, winnable) distributed computing contests out there? It might be exciting to hook up all 10 of us.

    Great idea!

No thanks, Chief! I'm not interested in running a public warez server or DoS client either, which is what happens when hackers discover holes in the SETI client.

This is what happened to me with a similar Google project. I ended up getting banned by my ISP for several days while things were sorted out...

LoL! Sure, let's use your machine. Mine won't handle the overhead...

I'm not sure which machine you're referring to, VinDSL. Neutron?

I'm not sure that Greg intends to use JAG machines to support SETI, I think he just invited readers of this forum to join under the Jag teamname.

BTW, I thought you run 6 to 10 machines networked at home all the time. No spare cycles there? Wow, you must really have important things to compute.

Will do Greg, if you do me a favour in return

The SSl cert on Falcon expired last month, I've got an open ticket but I was planning on launching a site today and I'm just waiting on the new cert being installed. If you could see how it's coming along

I doubt any of my machines are the leader of the pack but they arent too bad. Im about to up to a dual opteron now though. I do however have about 5 machines , all but one well above the 2ghz range. So when it comes to combined personal computing power Ive got a fair share.

I would join up, but I run on a 500 mHz computer that can barely do what I want it to now

    That a bunch we are!!!

Every leg-shaking, weasel-slapping, Freecell-playing schmuck I know has a 4.5 Ghz Pentium VI at home, yet Matt is riding well behind the curve, and I, a world-famous PHP oracle am also doing all my handiwork on a 500Mhz Socket-7.

Hahahaha! OMG! I can't believe this! What a h00t! I'm gonna have to think about this for a while...
