How many people would be interested in assisting Seti@ home sponsered by Jag ?
Think we can take the #1 spot there?

We might stand a better chance at distributed.net
Not a good chance, just a better one, and actually have the opportunity to do some real good by finding a new Optimal Golumb Ruler...
Maybe there are better (worthwhile, under-manned, winnable) distributed computing contests out there? It might be exciting to hook up all 10 of us.
Great idea!
No thanks, Chief! I'm not interested in running a public warez server or DoS client either, which is what happens when hackers discover holes in the SETI client.
This is what happened to me with a similar Google project. I ended up getting banned by my ISP for several days while things were sorted out...
DISCLAIMER Any resemblance between the views expressed above and those of the owners and operators of this system is purely coincidental. Any resemblance between these views and my own are non-deterministic. The existence of Vin DSL is questionable. The existence of views in the absence of anyone to hold them is problematic. The existence of the reader is left as an exercise in the second-order coefficient.
LoL! Sure, let's use your machine. Mine won't handle the overhead...Originally posted by Ron

I'm not sure which machine you're referring to, VinDSL. Neutron?
I'm not sure that Greg intends to use JAG machines to support SETI, I think he just invited readers of this forum to join under the Jag teamname.
BTW, I thought you run 6 to 10 machines networked at home all the time. No spare cycles there? Wow, you must really have important things to compute.
if you orun 6 to 10 machines surely one is a router and is firewalled up?
Already run my own small team![]()
hehe, ya I did NOT mean to use our servers for that. Just a community building idea . Bloke, get that team on over to teh jag group![]()

Will do Greg, if you do me a favour in return
The SSl cert on Falcon expired last month, I've got an open ticket but I was planning on launching a site today and I'm just waiting on the new cert being installed. If you could see how it's coming along![]()
[EDIT]Installed!Originally posted by G.Bloke

BTW, who has the biggest 'cruncher' here?

I doubt any of my machines are the leader of the pack but they arent too bad. Im about to up to a dual opteron now though. I do however have about 5 machines , all but one well above the 2ghz range. So when it comes to combined personal computing power Ive got a fair share.

I would join up, but I run on a 500 mHz computer that can barely do what I want it to now![]()
That a bunch we are!!!
Every leg-shaking, weasel-slapping, Freecell-playing schmuck I know has a 4.5 Ghz Pentium VI at home, yet Matt is riding well behind the curve, and I, a world-famous PHP oracle am also doing all my handiwork on a 500Mhz Socket-7.
Hahahaha! OMG! I can't believe this! What a h00t! I'm gonna have to think about this for a while...
