Looks like the Berg murder really stuck a stick in their spokes... and just when they had the perfect opportunity to blame the U.S.. You'd think they were the Democratic leadership! Oops, I've really done it this time.
Vin, quit humoring them.

I agree that something doesn't seem right and that an amazing amount of investigation is about to be undertaken. Right now though, anything I personally hear from the Berg family is going to be filtered in my mind first. They are understandably distraught and emotions are taking over in the immediacy of their son's death. And I imagine they are looking for answers and want to blame someone for what is an incomprehensible human tragedy. Some of what Michael Berg has stated seems irrational, but I will give them some space to sort out their intimate torture.
I think Nick Berg may have gotten a little too comfortable in a very dangerous place and run into an opportunistic bastion of demons (may they burn in everlasting Hell).
But the Al-jazeerah conspiracy tripe... I trust them about as much as I now trust the New York Times. Why bother listening to anything they (Al-jazeerah) present?

Yeah, I'm not buying that one for a second.Originally posted by Vin DSL
...Hezbollah and Hamas denounce the murder of a Jew?![]()
I remember some television media reporting that these extremist Arabs were not upset about the murder for the murder's sake but rather about the fact that its timing was poor - it detracted from the anti-US sentiment about the Abu Ghraib prisoner "abuses".
if this is the first thing you have found to say "something is not right" about then you have the wool pulled soo far over you eyes that your not even thinking for yourselfOriginally posted by Vin DSL
I dunno... Something doesn't smell right here...
Berg was obviously friendly to the Arab cause, as witnessed by his father. He travelled through the Iraqi countryside for months with impunity. He went to the northern city of Mosul and visited an Iraqi man whose brother had been married to Berg's late aunt. He recently got picked up by the authorities and was told to leave Dodge. He declined their 'offer' and the next thing you know, Nick Berg (may he rest in peace) is dead.
Doesn't this seem extremely abnormal to you?
stop being a government sheep.........
and before you go off, I dont agree with the Governments Position in Iraq, Not because I dont think it was a just cause, but because I dont think WE should be responible for it......
the Middle east is at a Unrest, it always will be, our presence makes it WORSE...
Infact our Presence, or rather our Acknowlegment of Irael some 50 years ago is what lead to this all in the first place,
and the only reason why we care about that area is for the stablity of oil production, which ironicly the prices have been on a steady rise, and which by the way certin government officals are heavly vested....
You have to step back and look at the BIG BIG BIG picture, the problem with most of the news today, and in contrast the thinking of the american people is they take each item as independant from the others, when infact they are all tightly woven...
and at the end of the day revolves around money..... always, everything does
Hell if you really want to you can trace this all the way back to henry Ford himself...
When he created the Model T, it was a Dual Fuel Vechile, Able to Run on Ethnol, and Gas. Why because he saw that ethnol was easly produced inhouse, and could be made cheaply, unlike gasoline
Why then did we go the all gas route
MONEY
whcih leads us to today, and the Gas Crisis of the century, as Prices go over $2/gal on average.... way over normal inflation rates

Not that Vin needs help in defending his positions, but I thought he was just pointing out that all is not what it seems... after all, he did post the contrarian viewpoint that the Arab community posits via Al-jazeerah. That rag organization states that U.S. agents are conspiring to deflect attention from the Abu Ghraib crisis... hardly what a "government sheep" would profess.
...Iraq ...I dont think WE should be responible for it
We are partly responsible for it though not for purely philanthropic reasons. Please review the latter posts of Click for WMD to get some forum members' perspectives.

Probably true, at least for our lifetimes.
...our presence makes it WORSE.
Debatable.
Infact our Presence, or rather our Acknowlegment of Irael some 50 years ago is what lead to this all in the first place
No, what is really leading to all "this" now is the scapegoating being performed by so many corrupt, Middle Eastern governments. Rather than face their own, internal problems, many seek to blame an external evil and deflect the ire of the populace. I can envision the socialists' eyes opening wide here and saying that the Bush administration is attempting to do the same thing so that we (read Americans) won't focus on the terrible economy. Remember that mantra before the war? Guess that argument just doesn't hold water anymore, so I'll just wait for the next anti-Bush rationalization...
...and the only reason why we care about that area is for the stablity of oil production, which ironicly the prices have been on a steady rise, and which by the way certin government officals are heavly vested.
Jeez, not again. The vast, right-wing, oil-conspiracy theory raises its head again.
You have to step back and look at the BIG BIG BIG picture, the problem with most of the news today, and in contrast the thinking of the american people is they take each item as independant from the others, when infact they are all tightly woven...
OK, I'll step all the way back - we're here to reproduce, nothing more.I think most people recognize that the world is a complex entity. We address issues singularly so that they are more manageable.
and at the end of the day revolves around money... always, everything does
Yes, I agree. Those greedy terrorists are always seeking new funding to wage the next war.
Hell if you really want to you can trace this all the way back to henry Ford himself...<motivations of combustion engine and its perpetuation to create a monopoly for the oil industry snipped by Spathy>
I will agree with you that our energy policy is in dire need of a makeover but this is not the "Gas Crisis of the century" for crying out loud. Bottled water costs more than its equivalent volume of water. SUV sales continue to skyrocket. Travel continues unabated. This is not a crisis, it's an inconvenience that requires budget readjustment.
Wait a minute... someone's pulling my leg... Mr. Kerry, is that you?
Vin
I agree based on reading all that you posted that there seems to be some irregularities. If you are suggisting the US killed the man I cant quite buy that.
OspreyServices
The problem in the Middle East needs to be taken back to Adam & Eve not Henry Ford.
The US nor any other county will ever solve the problems In the Middle East. We may put bandaids on the situation and that is all.
