Wildfires are all around his home town.
Even though I can't stand the guy for the games he plays, I hope he, his family and his property are all OK.

Yeah, hopefully he's in the clear. Too bad we can't send him some of our rain... and no, not to add insult to injury but to douse the flames. Just want to quench the would-be cynics. Texans are generally quite hospitable.
Thanks, bros!
The sky has been orange for a week. Everything is covered in soot. They backburned the forest directly behind us Tuesday, but the flames are only 1.5 miles away, lapping at our doorsteps...
Evacs were started twice this week, then called off. Today might be the day...![]()

good luck, Vin - People around Los Alamos got burned out a couple of years ago, and they are still recovering. Land still looks like hell...
I hope the best for you and your area!
Thanks, to everyone, for your kind thoughts! I really appreciate it!Originally posted by clssam

The situation is rather grim, I'm sorry to say. We had live embers falling on us most of the day. We moved some of our keepsakes - pictures, important papers, blah, blah, blah, to safer ground.
I took some snaps for you. I'll keep it short. I don't want to bore you with my plight, but you asked. Everyone likes pics, so I'll let them do the talking. BTW, these were taken in the middle of the day.
This is what it's like having a 60,000 acre dragon breathing down your neck...![]()

I've seen these pictures before... Well, not exactly these images... but now you can understand how the person who took this must have felt:
Empathy is probably a good start on the way back from ego-centric personality disorders!
I'm sorry if this would be considered a "flame" post.

Pretty spectacular I must say. The photos are both beautiful and scary at the same time.Originally posted by Vin DSL

I can't tell if that's Jake or Winston but it appears your watchdog is watching the wrong way.Originally posted by Ron

Fire is the great purifier. I just hope it doesn't liberate my house. I judge the odds to be 60/40 right now...
