Thumbs up Winamp 5.04 released 7/28/04

DISCLAIMER Any resemblance between the views expressed above and those of the owners and operators of this system is purely coincidental. Any resemblance between these views and my own are non-deterministic. The existence of Vin DSL is questionable. The existence of views in the absence of anyone to hold them is problematic. The existence of the reader is left as an exercise in the second-order coefficient.

Bah, I prefer my iTunes & iPod
I kind of miss Winamp's skins. But I realize that if I can't really complain of iTunes' simplicity and ease of use.

You know what? I used to HATE Winamp. I resisted using it for years, but somehow it's grown on me. I think it's because of Shoutcast. Whatever...

Talking about 'skins', I am rather concerned at my choice. If you can believe it, I use 'Bricks Set'...

As you can see, the look 'n' feel of Winamp has changed quite a bit in recent releases. You might want to try it again...

    1. Is that the only color scheme available? Ugh. (Of course, my "color" choice is City Nights so what do I know.)
    2. Is your new system completely finished? If not, you might want to skim some money off they pile to acquire a bigger monitor. That screen size is very inefficient for coding.

No, that's not the only skin available. And, I know the colors are sick to the max, but for some reason I seem to like it. That's what's bothering me...

Also, yes, I'm pretty much done building the new machine. I'm still mulling over the HD situation, but there's no rush on that.

I'm using a 17" Sammy SyncMaster for a monitor @ 1024 x 768. It gets me by. The monitor I prefer is a NEC 22", but the damn thing is 700 bones discounted, so...

EDIT: Hrm... it appears that the price is coming down. Very tempting!

To digress, how to you like that screenshot - 52k PNG? Care to guess what the size would have been in JPEG format?

I hope you have lots of ram. You sure do have a lot of programs running, of course I am counting the ones in the system tray.

I'm guessing the JPG would be close to 200k.

The only problem with PNG is that Microsoft STILL doesn't have proper transparency support

I've been a fan of the Spilt Milk theme for years.

    Good guess - 196k!

As far as PNG transparency goes...

10k transparent PNG. How's it look?
