I hate to be a bitch, but it sorta comes accross as rude to me. That the resellers are of a higher priority, and everyone else takes second place, Plus it adds scrolling which is even more annoying. AND to top it all off, I can't even look in that forum. So it puts it right there where I can't see it.
Perhaps you should put a modification on the forum to only display them forums for those marked as people with access to that account.
BTW being padentic here, but when I reply to a post I am suppose to get emails when others post too it also (subscribe to the thread) however, you have it set with none-mail:error@jaguarpc.com so my spam program automatically deletes the email. so, its annoying.

You seriously read so much into the structure of a forum that you feel offended? And have you done a cost/benefit that compares your annoyance at scrolling another 20 lines versus other resellers getting some support and help? Me neither.
Whatever...
Anyway, there is a vB hack that hides boards from people who are not registered to use them. However, the argument could be made that people aren't aware there is a support area for resellers until they sign up. So, it loses value as a perceived benefit to potential reseller customers.
Besides, there's not a lot of traffic in there, and we do deserve help over and above areas like 'Open Discussion', don't you think? After all, resellers can represent more revenue per account and higher profit margins when one considers that we act as a first line to tech support for our customers. Then there's higher volume.
However, I don't think there is implied priority - just the hope that there is more visibility.
I don't know... seems like the people that pay the most or provide the most business deserve the most attention and a special treat here and there. As long as Jag isn't really denying you the basics for which you enlisted during signup, then they are being pretty fair.Originally Posted by Zacrifice
I'm not a reseller so I don't get special treatment and don't know what all they get compared to me; however, I've found that they treat me better than the amount for which I'm paying. Having conceded that, I hope Jag doesn't raise my rates.
The forum mod solution might be a useful one, however, and could be the solution to make everyone happy.
Personally I can't see any changes in the general forum structure.Originally Posted by Zacrifice

To me it is all pretty simple. There are very few post in the Resaleers forum. I'm pretty sure that the poor general population gets updates before resellers.
Want to see the reseller forums sign up as a reseller. I have 3 sites hosted at Jag. I'm not interested in what goes on in the resellrs forum. It would only cost me a couple of dollars a month more.
In fact I think most resellrs post their questions in the gerneral forum.

Resellers have their own issues and some would not like everyone to know about their clients. However, these people do give Jag a LOT of money and Jag didn't feel that they were getting their money's worth.
Yeah, I feel it was a great move. It makes it easier for the resellers to get to their forums instead of having to scroll to the bottom.
It's so much better.

Rude was the wrong choice in words.
I understand the Jag will potentially make more money from resealers, a heck of a lot more money. but placing it above everything else just doesn't come accross as right to me, Perhaps moving it to just belong the generaly discussions would more it looks better.
I do agree that resellers should be get treated with a priority, however it shouldn't be something that is mentioned, just done.
and perhaps its only 20 lines for you Lokki, however I don't ever use the browser full screen, its always off in another part of the screen generally taking up only half of the screen across, so I end up having to scroll a heck of a lot more.
I know that on phpBB that there is an obscure hack that allows the users to choose what forums to see, might be one for VBForums.
having to do lots of scrolling is an irratating. I'm also one of them people where you have to make going to a site worth my time since I have such little of it to spare on what I want too do, so having to scroll to get to where I am intending on going takes up valuable time that I can be using it else where. You may not think that scrolling takes up that much time but in a weeks worth of scrolling it does.

The phpBB thing isn't an obscure hack. You can just set whether one can see a forum in the same way as one sets here whether one can see a post. Therefore it needn't show forums / sections one has no access too. Works quite nicely.

The resoning, traditionally, around here for having the resellers forums visible to everyone is so that new resellers will know they exist. Remember, you don't get a forum account here automatically, you sign up for it whenever you want (even if you arn't a client). When you sign up you get a general user account that lets you see everything except the reseller forums. To get access to them you need to be a reseller and you need to ask Jag for access. If you are a new reseller, and those forums are hidden, you may never know that they exist and won't be able to participate in them.
Jag has refered to other "admin only" boards that they use internally. Those are hidden to all of clients, but it doesn't matter since not knowing they're there doesn't effect us at all. But for a new reseller, not knowing abount the reseller forums means not being able to access a beneficial part of the service.
One solution, perhaps, would be some kind of mod that allows you, the user, to decide what boards you do and do not want to see. Then, if you wanted to hide the reseller boards, you could. To my knowledge, there is no inherient way of doing this in VB, but perhaps there is a mod somewhere.

This is really silly. I never would have thought that someone could make an issue out of something like this, but of course... there is always one. I mean seriously, what the hell man? How much longer does it take to scroll down? I probably wouldnt have even noticed if nothing was said.![]()
Yeah! I very seldom use that screen anyway...Originally Posted by BigPete

I wish they would add the "Todays Posts" link too (hint, hint)...
Having said that, I think the resellers SHOULD be at the top. The 'quick search' feature probably doesn't serve them well, and they could probably care less about 'New Posts' in the regular forums.
I suspect they use that 'entry point' more than anyone else, so why not let them get to it more easily?

Have to agree that making an issue out of this is kinda silly. I posted about this originally but did not even see whatOriginally Posted by BigPete
Zacrifice was talking about. Today after this thread was revived I did see what he was talking about.
I have to scroll down anyway so what do a few more lines mean. Nothing at least for me.

By the way, Zac... there is a little button on the right side of each forum header that allows you to collapse or expand that section. You might suggest to Jag that he make that a persistent feature in the login cookie. Then, you'd only have the header to deal with.

Just thought you might go into a little more detail about the button you refered to.
