    Firefox 1.0 - RELEASE

Firefox 1.0 has officially been released by the Mozilla Organization.

I can't wait to install this.

    New default homepage: http://www.google.com/firefox
    Release URL: http://www.mozilla.org/
    Release Notes: http://www.mozilla.org/products/fire...eases/1.0.html
    Change Log: http://www.squarefree.com/burningedge/releases/1.0.html

What more is there to say? Tons of bug fixes, optimizations, improvements...

NOTE: Back up bookmarks. I've heard reports of lost bookmarks. Try to use the built in upgrade system if you can (you should notice an upward pointing arrow next to the throbber in the top right corner). I did it through that system and did not lose bookmarks.

I just went to upgrade a system that was still running 0.9.3 and was quite surprised to see the big 1.0 when I did. very cool.

There is evidentally a mad rush to download 1.0, too, as their servers are running at a snail's pace right now.

No big change for me. I've been running this for a while, the preview release anyhow. I didn't have any problems with my bookmarks either for what its worth.

Well, dang, that was uneventful! I forgot to upgrade last night...

I just used the update utility, built into FireFox, and the whole thing took like 2 minutes.

    Whatever!

BTW, this is what spurred me into action... Firefox boy Gatecrashes Bill’s party
...A software that 17-year-old Blake Ross started building in 2002 has got Microsoft worried. It’s called Firefox, it’s free, and it beats the pants off Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Forbes magazine declared it was “better than Internet Explorer by leaps and bounds.” The Wall Street Journal is telling readers to “dump Internet Explorer...”

Yep. The only problem with that is that you're probably missing the first two items in the help menu.
