    phpWebsite - Fallout Mod

    Greetings!
I am (or will be once setup) a new
client at JaguarPC. I noticed in your
    CGI auto-setups that phpWebsite is
included, and was wondering if the
    mod Fallout for phpWebsite could
also be added. If you haven't seen it
here is the link to the demo:
    http://www.phpwebsite.appstate.edu/fallout/

It looks pretty cool! I was just about to
set it up on my previous host when they
started having problems and I never completed it.

    Just wondering!

Out of curiosity, what does Fallout do? I checked the page you posted and did some light browsing around the main site; but there wasn't any information.

Based on phpWebsite, it is a Content
    Management System (CMS).
I'm just now looking into CMS's, but
it's a simple way to keep a web site
    updated...you create web pages through
the CMS and it includes them into the
setup. There are also plugins you can
add, such as a calendar, project mangager, galleries, etc.
Fallout is basically just a prettied up version of phpWebsite...if your looking for info on it, go to the phpWebsite url:

    http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu/
I'm still learning about it myself, but hope this helps a little.

Indeed, very helpful! I'm exploring various CMS options at the moment and though I currently love MovableType, I am looking for other options to keep my options open. I'll look further into phpWebsite when I get a chance.

FYI, MT was started for bloggers, but makes a great CMS for small businesses.

Our site has used phpWebsite for about a year and a half now. Most of it's benefits have already been well explained. It should be noted that Fallout is still very much BETA. It should not be considered stable at this time...

As a side note, phpWebsite 0.8.2 just last week had a pretty major security glitch exposed (and utilized to deface a number of sites). More info HERE .

True, I forgot to mention it was still very
beta. I just thought it was "purrty".

I hadn't heard about the security breach.
    Thanks for the info!

It is purrty ! And it looks like the admin interface will be a really good one, too. I really wish, though, that there was a CMS that had similar features plus search engine friendly urls. I know I can probably effect the same kind of thing through mod_rewrite, but I'm not smart enough to use that .
