Hrm...
I disabled the pipe size check. How about now?

lol. That isn't even close to my real bandwidth.
8.26 MB/sec... I can't even reach that speed on my LAN.

Heh! You guys are a tough crowd!![]()
Okay, I think I see what's happening. How about trying it again?

I'm getting between 3.9 and 4.7 MBps, which is probably pretty accurate. I'm sitting on a 100 MBps network right now that is connected to the rest of the campus through fiber and eventually connects to a very busy OC3 line to the Net. I'd say those number indicate pretty good (but not unrealistic) performance.
I'll have to play with it from home and see how it compares. There I'm connected to a 3MBps cable connection, so I'd expect much lower throughput.

Much better now

My connection is about 256Kbps so it's pretty accurate now!Congrats.

Great!
I played with those scripts for two days, trying to port them over to PHP-Nuke. I finally got all the bugs ironed out, and it was working fine for me, but it was wildly inaccurate - sometimes - for others.
Then I started thinking... I'm using GZIP compression, caching, and all sorts of nonsense on my site. How the heck is a bandwidth tester supposed to work in an environment like that?
Anyway, it seems to work fine in it's own window...![]()
Thanks, everyone!

You know, I was just thinking... 494.76 KB/sec. on your connection... I'm getting 445.86 KB/sec. on this DS3 connection at work... and, about 150-160 KB/sec. at the house on 1.5/896 DSL. That speaks pretty well for JagPC, don't you think?
I've heard ppl ask if the bandwidth is metered here. Obviously it isn't! I guess this exemplifies the situation....

How long is it supposed to take? It causes a short (5-10s.) spike in my incoming traffic, but other than that it doesn't seem to do anything..
I'd be most interested in your code, once done, as I'd like to build something like that into my site: measure (probably on the loading time of the front page - of known total size) the bandwith (roughly) and adapt the number / size of images etc. shown on the rest of the site based on that.
