    Is this a forum Bug?

I'm alway logged in. However if a click on a link in a thread that points to another thread, I always get a screen that says I'm not logged in, and ask for user name and PW. Just curious if any one else experiences this.

This has been on ongoing 'problem', ever since I can remember, Connie!

There are several ways to view these forums, and you have to be auth'ed on each one of them to view private forums. This does not apply to public forums, which don't require auth. But, if it's a private forum, which does require you to be logged in to view posts, then it all depends where you entered the site.

If you logged in from 'jaguarpc.com', the auth will not carry over to 'www.jaguarpc.com' links, and vice-versa. If you want to view private forum messages, with or without the 'www' in front of the link, you will have to log in twice.

    Does that sense?

BTW, this isn't the only site that has this 'problem'. I get on many sites that are the same way.

Vin thanks. At least I know I'm not the only one with this problem.

Not a big deal but something that Jag should address. Not being a programmer I don't know what the solution is, but I think it would be rather simple for a programmer to fix.

Just for the hell of it I clicked on a link in another thread. Got the log in window. Logged in again. Guess what? I did not get directed to the link I clicked on. Just another window that showed all new post. I should have copied and pasted the link into the browser which I will do in the future. Not often that I want to re-read an old post that is being linked to. But when I do well you know the rest of the story.

Hmmm....it should be possible to set a cookie so that all of the "jaguarpc.com" domains can see it. Maybe the boards should be hacked to also set an aletiaforums.com cookie as well. It both cookies were set whenever you logged on from anywhere then that should solve the problem.

Nope; no website can set or read a cookie for a domain other than the one your are visiting. If that were somehow possible, it would be a huge breach in safety and privacy.
