    This quote is a couple of years old, but...
    Matt Drudge's $1.2 Million

    On Monday, the Miami Herald profiled local resident Matt Drudge, who claims to earn US$1.2 million in advertising revenue from his Web site.

    Its ads are sold by Intermarkets, an agency that also sells banner for The Chicago Sun-Times, The Village Voice, and other sites. The banner ads costs $3 per thousand impressions or $4,400 a day (discounted to $29,000 a week). Drudge claims that his site received nearly 6.5 million visitors during the average day in August and had 163 million in the preceding 31 days. After Intermarket's commission, the ad revenue is almost pure profit for Drudge. The site costs only about $4,000 a month to run.
    *edit* Found another one...

    A story by Business 2.0 magazine from April 2003 estimated that Drudge's website pulled in $3,500 a day in advertising revenues. Combined with his radio show and subtracting his relatively minor server costs, the magazine estimated that Drudge pulled in $800,000 a year with his simple website. An article in The Miami Herald from September 2003 said Drudge estimated he earns $1.2 million a year from his website and radio show. During an April 30, 2004 appearance on C-SPAN, Drudge confirmed that he has broken the seven-figure mark [per year].

    The numbers quoted, $3 per thousand and $4,400 a day would say he was generating 1.5 million hits a day. The number you posted showed 11 million. Well, at the quoted $3 per thousand, he's be making $33,000 a day. He has 8 times the traffic he had.

    I don't know if he has ads on all his pages, and if he's still able to command $3 per thousand, but I know how much MY traffic has increased since 2003.

    Perhaps he has a syndication which he counts as hits, who knows. In addition, I just looked at his site and he's really got it loaded up with ads, a lot more than I remember.

    Not bad income for wearing a fedora.

    BTW I'm serious, I had no reason to believe that my site could generate such traffic. I'm sure you'll catch up and pass me at some point... unless I make up more numbers

    Congrats!

    The way you count'em, I've had about 5 million pages since June, you've had about 4 million. You're definitely catching up big time!

    I need another boost from somewhere, but I'm out of ideas!

    Er... become a bigger prick than me?!?!?!?

    I know -- you're trying!

    *edit*

    Just thinking...

    Have you ever considered smoking a Sheepdog for Thanksgiving, instead of a Turkey?

    I thought about doing that with my English Springer Spaniel (Cookie) when a Timber Rattler got her on the nose, but my wife made me bury it (in the middle of the night) down by the golf course...

    That'll get you hits, guaranteed!

    I know it doesn't *seem* like much, considering what places like 'Drudge Report' gets, but hell...

    Communists and terrorists love my site! According to the stats, Iranian visitors are the #1 viewer of my sites, followed by France, Russia, China, blah, blah, blah...

    Truthfully, I don't get it!

    The thing is, my sites obviously get enough traffic to kill 'normal' shared JagPC Mega-servers, but they don't make a dent on SDX, sooo...

    Kudos to you, Chief, and your band o' merry men (and women)!

    I would have been bounced off of other 'Unlimited' web hosts years ago...

    * As an aside... I've been 'distro-hopping' for several months now - and I'm using PCLinuxOS as I type.

    This site looks better on PCLinuxOS than FreeBSD. LoL! Maybe I'll try CentOS next...

    These numbers are like yours; they count every page load regardless of whether it's a human or a bot:
    (Also, I've banned bots from my forum now, otherwise Part A would be MUCH higher)

    Thru 2004: (for comparison to numbers given a year and a half ago)

    Part A: 1,392,000
    Part B: 1,890,000
    --------------------
    Total:: 3,282,000

    Through yesterday:

    Part A: 11,322,000
    Part B.: 7,160,000
    Part C...: 749,000
    --------------------
    Total:: 19,231,000

    These numbers are a little higher than my javascript counters which count only real people with javascript enabled:

    Part A: 5,430,000
    Part B: 3,271,000
    Part C: included in part A
    -----------------
    Total:: 8,701,000

    We're still pretty close... You'll catch up someday
    Do those pages include style.php and file.php?

    Are those phpbb3 files? Like download.php (used for avatars, I think)?

    If so, those stats were from 2006, well before I had 3.0 :-)

    I haven't looked at these kind of stats in years. I'm sure Vin's site blows mine away now since I lost so much traffic due to various reasons over the last couple of years. Bots are still banned from indexing my dynamic content; they get flat files only. Even back then.
    Good luck
