    Looking for the perfect job

    Hello everyone,

I'm been a user of jaguarpc for a couple of months now and well, I decided to come here to ask this specific questions since I know there is alot of proffesional people here working on different tech businesses.

Well anyways, my question would be what type of job would be good for me? I'm in college right now and well, the rest of my life I want to do something that I enjoy doing, I really enjoy doing things on the internet, I love technology and computer related stuff, at college my current major is Business administration. I was on the CIS program at school last semester... however, I dont think I like programming, like visual basic cobol and all that stuff (even though I never took any courses on those subjects), is just one of those feelings you know... well anyways, as I was saying, what I enjoy doing is using the internet, i find it easy to navigate and find any type of things, I feel really familiarized with it and I like adimnistrating boards and such.. I dont think there is no such job as an "web specialst" or something (or is it?) but I would like to go towards something that is related to the interent, like an online business or something... I have thought about setting up a dedicated server company one day in the future, but I really dont know if knowledge in computer hardware is extremely necessary...

So does anyone here does something web related? I love managing my online website (a community website, but that is just a hobby, and I dont see how can that become into a life income, if you know what I'm saying) anyways, any comments suggestions are welcome

thank you for reading this thread I appreciate it..

Have you considered a career in fantasy writing? lolol

    Just kidding.

Hey, if you really are thinking about a career as a server company, open a reseller account, or get a server from JAG and see what you can do with it, how it would fit into a business plan that you have, or would like to develop.

If you got a dedicated server from JAG, you could try to resell VPS accounts.

Better yet, write a letter to Jag (or one of his few-and-far-between competitors) and ask them for an internship. Or perhaps just start looking for work in the server hosting area.

Personally, when I was 19 a friend of mine was studying to be a draftsman, or some such. I said to him "I can't imagine sitting behind a desk all day. He said tht's exactly what he'd like to do.

He became a field service technician in Manhattan, walking outside all day... I became a computer guy, sitting behind a desk all day.

    Ya never know.

    Hrm... interesting!

Personally, I've found that whenever I've really, really, really liked something, it's always been a BIG mistake making a profession of it.

and most professional career advisors will say the exact oppisite.

I think it is a mix of both. it take a certin breed to do something they love professionally.

Just like some people need the control of a supervisor looking over them 24/7 and other perform well in a job with little to no direct supervision.

I have worked in many areas, from IT Support, Web Design, Warehousing, Retail (both online and offline), and Direct Sales.

    I like them all

    to the orginal Poster,

It has been my experance, and now my advice it is NEVER jump right in to your own business. get a Job as say a Network Admin, or something like that,

Also sicne your in collage, and if you goal is to own your own business, the very very best thing you can do is take some business class, maybe even minor in Business.

it is one thing to know about your industy, but that does not mean you can run a business in that industry, there are many aspects of a business that will have nothing to do with computers or servers.
