    Positive feedback

We've received such positive feedback from the newsletter that I wanted to get a feel for what topics you would like future newletters to cover. What are you interested in? Or better yet, think of this as a thread to post what more you would like to see form JPC. Maybe you've seen other hosts do different things that you would like us to implement.

The whole team here at Jaguar works for you guys, so let us know what you want! No idea is too outrageous.

Hmm, OK... I've got two off the top of my head.
    • Update the FAQs pages to address the questions which are asked, well, frequently. Sales hours versus Support hours and DNS guides come to mind.
    • A continuous series of tips to help webmasters secure their sites. This could be short blurbs, links, or long essays of innumerable topics. Apache, scripting, and eMail seem like good starters though.

Caveat, - do not implement any of this if it detracts from current support levels. No one, not even Jaguar, has unlimited time and resources to pacify the dependent souls you control so innately now.

Won't rant on stuff I already mentioned recently, but one thing still comes to mind: get rid of that "online manual". It already confused the heck out of me when I came here about 30 months ago because it was so outdated. I really feel for the poor folk that innocently try to follow its lead now.

Of course, it would be nicest if it were to be made and kept up to date. Turning it into a wiki just might help too, abandoning it in favour of the forum search is another option. Leaving it as is though, is IMHO inferior to deleting it today and bluntly leaving a 404 error.

    Hello Spath and Gwaihir,

You both have made a great point about the FAQ manual. We do have plans to completely remake the FAQ manual. Jag came up with some pretty good ideas about how to make the manual helpful and interactive. I'm sure a number of you have even see some of the flash demos that are used for topics such as adding an e-mail account or multi-hosting a domain. We will have more information on this in the next newsletter, since you have aired your interest in seeing the manual redone.

Brandon, thanks for the response. I figure this will help any future customers and the less experienced trying to find their way. At this point, personally, such info is not that important since I've been here long enough to know your policies and am at least competent in running my domain. Four years ago would've been a completely different story since I wouldn't have known a mod_rewrite from a hole-in-the-ground. A FAQ differentiating a hole and a module would've been very helpful - I might've even skipped other web hosts and come here first.

Anyway, thanks for being responsive and proactive.

I'd say one of the reasons people were positive about the newsletter was that it contained some really really good news... (hint: X5)

But acutally that's a good point, bringing good news and telling the customers "we're working on making things even better for you" is what I like about it. Maybe you could also use the newsletter to describes hidden features that people otherwise might miss, "did you know that you can...". And security tips, as mentioned already.

Very good tip indeed, maybe even spur a thread or whole forum dedicated to that type of thing.

The ability to add/remove multi-hosted domains ourselves instead of having to open a support ticket. That'd be nice

Email Tracer wasn't a new feature. That's been there since the last plan.

Mine had a link to the tool in cPanel but it wasn't functional until I bumped up to X5. I guess it was a configuration issue that varied from account to account and some setups slipped through the cracks. Had I needed it, Jaguar would've switched it on for me.

Hmm, I never had that feature through cPanel. I do have it through Aletianic (aka JaguarPC) through their domain registration services, however. As of yet, they are not coordinated to such a degree that all may be controlled under one GUI. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

I think having things such as tech tip and/or tech website link would be cool. Sometime I feel like I've reached the end of the interenet until someone send me a link and it opens pandoras box all over again.

Maybe a meet the staff section would be cool. Each newsletter could highlight one staff member and take them through a few questions. This is a very close coimmunity which is cool since it's a just a bunch of random people hosted throught he same company. Knowing who's running the show may help that some.

You could do a, "answer a question" type of thing.

I know it was there or was about to be there but if you cant find it and need that done we can set that up via ticket system request.
