Last year, based on a commercial on a internet radio station I checked out the site of another host (which I won't name). It looked just as sleek as Jaguar's and the base offer looked amazing: 5.95 / month for payment per 6 months gets you 10GB of space and 200GB of bandwith, well beyond what jag offers for 8.95 / month. WTF?It came with all the usual too: 99,9% uptime guarantee, 30 day money back guarantee, etc.
It just seemed to good to be true, so I got quite suspicious, but I had to look quite deep and long to find my suspicions confirmed. Eventually I found absolutely zero backing to their guarantees - so what makes it a guarantee then? - and a very fishy small print about the 30 days satisfaction guarantee. Then I searched a bit broader on webhostingtalk and found them evaluated very negatively indeed.
However, as I stated, I had to look pretty darn deep to form this opinion. I dunno what exactly peeked my interest, perhaps I had nothing better to do that night. I like to think of myself as thorough, but normally if I were out "shopping" even I wouldn't look that in depth at such an offering but just dismiss it out off hand. This raises the question: is JAGs base package, the Gigadeal X5, starting to border on that "to good to be true" area by now, which would could cause potential customers to just skip to the next advertisement thinking, "yeah sure"?
I am in no position to answer, as I already know that this offer is for real and haven't been seriously out host shopping in a good while, but I was wondering, so I thought I'd raise i here.![]()
