I have a PHP script that attempts to invoke a remote web service that's hosted on a high port number (8889). The invocation times out, which leads me to believe outgoing traffic on that port is currently blocked. Is this the case? If so, is there any chance of having a small range or ports opened for my account so that I can use some web services?

Are the packets being sent TCP or UDP? I would suggest opening a ticket to see if a technician can look into this for you letting them know where your script is located and any other details that may help them troubleshoot the issue. Of course, it's the technicians job to ask any questions they think would help them troubleshoot the problem, but the more detail provided up front is most helpful.
