Need some opinions - logo design

We have had a company working on a new image, logo, site, forums, everything to finally be able to drop the boring 3 generic block logo and copy and pasted site look. Well the company we hired has been back and forth with design options for us for months now, we're very picky and have rejected many ideas.

We finally have a set we really love, but now we are having a time choosing a final. I would like to get some peoples thoughts on each of our two finalist.

    Logo 1:

    Logo 2:

Hmmm submitting my vote I get redirected to Politics: State of the Union instead of back to this thread.

Even though I voted for Logo 2 I actually like Logo 1 too. I know some people will say the shiney stuff is so last year, but that's why I like it. It's getting old to look at the same old strict CSS like text without any sparkle.

I don't like the J much though. Eventhough it's probably supposed to be a "tail" it just doesn't seem to fit with either style.

I think you will find version one will work way better at smaller sizes. Reproduction issues that play an important role.

But I'd move the URL under the text, positioned as it is in version 2, but still in italics as it is in version 1.

To get the URL to be readable at smaller sizes, you're probably going to need it to be bigger. You might need to have a small version of the logotype with larger URL text, for reproduction up to a given size. And then another version of the logotype for sizes above that. It's a common thing to do with logotypes.

Hate to say it, Chief, but the 'J' isn't pronounced enough in either one...

When I first started reading this thread, I thought, "What the hell is AUGUARPC?"

I though it was a word play on JaguarPC - really!

Looking at it again, I would leave the 'J' in the logo graphic, but add a 'J' to the text also...

I agree about the J. Add it to the name, not just the big J.

The J used to be in the orignal logo , we had them pull it and psu the name over. We really prefer a logo where the name is part of the logo and not just some design with our name next to it. anyhow, heres what it used to be :

Then the J and the rest of the text need to be more alike. Would a blue J work? (Probably changing some other color in the logo). I find this problem more pronounced in the 2nd version, so that pleads for version 1.

I like the "broken" circle much better than the complete one. Don't like this jaguar though; wrong dots?

Of course the Jaguar looks kinda like a leopard...

I like the logo, but then again my site looks like hell...

(To try to meet your requests couldn't you slide the text over right next to the J in the logo, so that the J in the text was also a part of the circle? Or use the same font and/or color J as in the text as the J around the cat? (perhaps with just an elongated tail?))

    Good luck!

Now you're talking... That rocks, Chief! Very impressive, IMHO!

I lik the second one best of the two, but I don't like the J in the logo that much. I do like the jaguar graphic though.

I was thinking the same thing. I like it better without the extra J, but the J needs to be the same color as the rest of Jaguar.

I agree with you Jag, it's better to have the logo design incorporated into the name, instead of just next to it.

Of the two displayed, I voted for #1.

I think one is perfect. All you have to do is read the url to figure it out. And I don't imagine the logo will be the only reference to Jaguarpc on the page.
