Hello,
what is JaguarPC's policy about hosting bittorent on dedicated servers?
AFAIK, it's okay on dedicated servers, legal issues aside, but on shared servers, this is what it says now...
However, after reading this thread, I have a feeling it's probably gonna say...Programs : We do not allow programs to run continually in the background. This is to minimize system resources used and operational maintenance needed. We do not allow any chat or topsite programs on our servers other than the ones we pre-install for our clients to use. IRC: We currently DO NOT allow IRC or IRC bots to be operated on our servers.
...but, that's just a guess...Programs : We do not allow programs to run continually in the background. This is to minimize system resources used and operational maintenance needed. -IRC: We currently DO NOT allow IRC or IRC bots to be operated on our servers.
-BitTorrent: Hosted accounts MAY NOT run BitTorrent trackers or host .torrent files on our servers. This rule exists due to possible legality issues, but more so, due to the fact that trackers have the potential to completely hog server resources and ruin the hosting experience for all other clients on shared servers.
Accounts will be canceled or suspended, at our sole discretion, upon violation of these rules.![]()

If its being used to serve out illegal software which I dont think Ive ever seen bittorrents used for any other purpose, that is not allowed.

Hello, Jag. Good to see you again.
You may remember my site. I've been running it for around 6-ish years now. Funny to see how a mere hobby site has been running that long ...
Anyway, my site doesn't serve any kind of illegal software. People on my site are usually curious about Asian culture and I've been wanting to serve them with some Asian songs, especially Japanese songs.
Of course, I wouldn't put new songs.,just some Japanese songs that are years old.
Hm, however, I do know that no matter how old copyrighted material is, it is always copyrighted and protected by law ...

Actually in most cases in the US copyright expires 70 years after the creator's death. I don't know if that tidbit of knowledge will help you any, though...

LOTS of tech stuff on BitTorrent that is not illegal such as podcast alternatives etc.. not that I'm advocating the use of them at JagPC.
You can kill a man with a hammer, but that's not it's intended purpose.
True, but when the only tool in your bag is a hammer, everyone looks like a nail... excuse me, I mean everything looks like a nail...Originally Posted by tank
