Bah! Forget it! That's a Deer Park roadmap release...
Damn that Softpedia anyway!![]()
Wait 'til tomorrow...

Sigh! Maybe this IS Firefox 1.5 beta 1.
Mozilla numbering is so confusing! You be the judge...
Been using it all night, and it works great!![]()

Wait, wasn't the last regular release 1.0.6 or something? At least that is what I am told when checking for new versions.

Yes, 1.0.6 is the current stable release. The version Vin is referring to is a beta, or a developmental milestone release. Betas are released to show off new features and help the developers find bugs. The are not considered to be stable and may be prone to crashes. Unless you want to be using the "latest and greatest" version of Firefox and you don't mind dealing with possible unexpected behaviors from the program, you should probably stick to 1.0.6 for the time being.

I know it's the beta. Just puzzled by the jump in numbers and whether I had missed a release somewhere

After you've been involved with Mozilla, and company, for any length of time, you learn to expect the un-expected. Basically, it's a free-for-all...Originally Posted by Sara

These ppl are seriously messed up in the head, but that's okay. I've grown to expect odd behavior from hackers. I suppose you could even loosely include me in that group...
I dunno, sometimes I think I'm the only normal hacker out there...

BTW, personally, I've resorted to running the Firefox nightly's, instead of the official releases. That's how screwy the whole thing has gotten on the cutting edge...
Like jason said, for the faint of heart, stick with the trunk releases. v1.0.6 is where you want to be right now, unless you're crazy (like a Fox)...
