Cool Google Ads vs Goooooogle Ads

Here's a weird one for you...

I publish Google ads on my web site -- made hundreds of dollars off them (whatever). I know there is a difference between 'Google Ads' and 'Goooooogle Ads'. What this difference is, I don't know, but there IS a difference. I guess I'll have to do some research. I thought you needed to have > 100k page views a day to generate Google Ads, but evidently not...

Anyway, the funny thing is, most of the ads on my site are Goooooogle Ads, and not really relevant to the content on my site, but recently, the ads in my 'Open Directory DSL' module have magically turned into Google Ads, and they ARE pertinent to the content.

Example: http://www.lenon.com/modules.php?nam...r_Family/Pets/ (click on this link - don't copy 'n' paste, or you'll probably be banned by my security system)

Does anyone know what's going on here -- what the difference is -- or do I have to figure it out on my own, like everything else?

    OMG!!! I'm losing it!

I clicked on this link twice and got Google Ads -- the third time, and more, I started getting Goooooogle Ads -- all relevant...

LoL! Help! Am I going crazy?

    Found a 'possible' explanation already...
Yes. That is the answer. Everytime i uploade a new page and refresh the page, it shows some irrelevant ads with the "ads by google" text. When i talk about irrelevant ads, it means some ads based on your domain name or the niche contents of your sites. Lets say your site is mainly about buy dogs, and your newly designed page is about buy cats, it will show buy dogs instead of buy cats.

After few more refreshes, it shows PSAs.

After a while, it shows relevant buy dogs ads with the text "Ads by gooooooogle".

    Here's another...
It's just google (Or should I say Gooooooogle?) trying to Brand their self, they switch it around from "Ads by google" to "Ads by Gooooooogle" all the time, it doesn't mean anything.

    And another...
An email Google sent out to AdSense publishers tells of added features, including multiple ad units on a page, collapsing ad units that shrink when a targeted ad isn't available, and - most interestingly - ads with "new branding features" that Google is currently testing out. These new branding ads reportedly are marked with a "Ads by Goooooogle" title.

Running ads on an ODP clone is probably going to get you banned some day from the Google Ads program, and/or your site's Pagerank turned to zero.

Apparently it's fun and profitable while it lasts (eg. they haven't moved in on many people yet).

    Why would you say that?

As far as I can tell, AdSense has no prohibition against it, and the ODP specifically makes their database available to do exactly as Vin DSL is doing (making a clone, that is).

So why do you think this?

Because Google is smart (Ex. they've got the best search engine). One day they'll change the TOS, particularly for Adsense where they are letting people get away with all sorts of scraper sites (according to the people on Webmasterworld).

I think the risk of getting a PageRank of zero (effectively getting kicked out of the Google index by a Google employee, or competitor, manually looking for spam) is bad enough to be taken seriously. I'm not sure if they're doing that to people who clone pages (like ODP), or if they just filter out part of their website. Perhaps the latter, in which case you don't have to worry so much. They might care more about people who are illegally stealing content, or automatically generating gibberish content, or other spammy tactics.

It doesn't make that much sense for there to be hundreds or more websites duplicating the ODP directory in slightly different ways...

Heh! Google bots basically live on my site. They're on it more than I am - 24/7/365. So, it's not like they don't know exactly what's going on...

    Proof: CLICK HERE

The only time Google got upset with me is when they saw MSN bots hanging around, and I took care of that.
