Hihi. I'll settle for 4.1My interest is stricly in its full multilingual and unicode support. Those version 5 features are still way over my head.

It's ready for production use. It's about time they added support for stored procedures, triggers & views, etc... Wonder when Jag will think about upgrading...
Once cPanel (or interworx) has integrated it and declared that integration production stable. Depending on the (non-) presence of compatibility breaks you might be able to get it where you are now or have to change server for it.Originally Posted by eyelleye

I'm dying to be able to use views, stored procedures, and triggers in my MySQL apps. If there's a way to get db's moved to MySQL 5 on a shared server, with or without cPanel, I would love to know how. Otherwise I guess I'll just be patient and toy with MySQL 5 on my home machines.![]()
We'll, they've thrown up a special VPS environment for those looking for PHP5 shared hosting and said they could do so more often in future for "special needs".. I'd suggest you PM Masood for this one and rattle the cages of others with that need a bit too.. by PM three or four he'll likely indulge you folk and set it up.Although.. I must say that I do think that is still run through WHM/cPanel. If none of the panels they use around here will handle it, it might well be too much work to set up and maintain.

Gah. At this point I'd be happy with 4.1. Tried to write a subquery this morning and realized we're only on 4.0.22.
I upgraded to 5.0 like a month ago and my database got corrupted...So I downgraded to 4.1 and it's working fine... but I really like the new features introduced on 5.0...

4.0.25 on 'my' server. Think you have a fair chance of getting 4.1 by now though, if you ask support for it.Originally Posted by Weevil

I'd love to get my hands on a MySQL 5 server, just for stored proceedures--but stability is even more important. I've used 4.1 on a different server, and the new features there (like subqueries) have been great. I haven't seen any problems with it there, so I would think it is probably stable enough to do an upgrade at this point.

I'll put in a support request for 4.1 at least.
I've got 5.0 installed on a couple of my own machines, but haven't spent much time messing with it yet.
