    Migrating accounts

Hopefully I will be happy with JaguarPC and not need to do this again. But I am now faced with migrating several domains to my reseller account here and I would like to discuss the best possible way to accomplish this.

My main concern is my mail - I would like to try to get all my mail as instantaneously as possible (I handle a bunch of support via email). What I was thinking of doing is the following:

    1. create an A record at my old host with a name jaguarmail.mydomain.com and point it to my jaguarPC server IP Address.
    2. create a cname record on my jaguarPC name servers for the same name and point it at my main server.
    3. change my mx record at the old host to jaguarmail.mydomain.com.
    4. force my pc to resolve mail.mydomain.com to the jaguarPC server (running windows so I would just edit my hosts file).

If I have thought this through correctly, then all mail will go to the new server even before mail.mydomain.com resolves to the new (jaguarPC) server.

I would appreciate any help you can give on this subject.

    Scott

As long as your dns mx record points to an address on our network it will come here. You dont really need to do the other changes but they wont hurt.
