Happy Festivus and New Year to you too! And to everyone!
What about the Chinese New Year?

Just got this in an email and had to share:
--JasonFor Our Democratic Friends:
"Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best wishes for
an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress,
non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday,
practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion
of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the
religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice
not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. We also wish you a
fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated
recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2006, but
not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose
contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that
America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America
in the Western Hem isphere. And without regard to the race, creed, color,
age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wished.
This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application
of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a
subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited
to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion
of the wisher."
For Our Republican Friends:
Here's wishing all of You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
By golly, you're right! How could I forget?!?
IIRC: "Gong hay fat choy!"
I looked it up, January 29th this year. Maybe if it's nice, I'll take my wife into downtown. My Dad's factory was in Chinatown, and I've NEVER participated in a Chinese New Year celebration. Lotsa fireworks, so I'll be sure we are both wearing hearing protection.
I remember visiting my Dad's factory once on a Monday after a New Year's celebration. The red wrapping paper from the fireworks was so thick on the street -- literally 4 or 5 inches thick in the gutters and just ground into the pavement...
Thanks for the nudge!
jason,
Such sincere wishes bring tears to one's eyes. *sniff* Very moving.
Was that email furthered by environmentally friendly electricity, or by evil petroleum byproducts? Either way, it looks like the Republican message was more energy conscious.
Happy new year everyone!
4h 20mins to go till 2006 (GMT+2), may it bring you lots of happiness and all that.
Well, in order for me to read it it required nuclear energy, so you be the judge.Originally Posted by Spathiphyllum

A conundrum of the highest order. Rather than ponder, I'll just have egg nog instead. Cheers!Originally Posted by jason
