Hi, long time no posting here. That means everything is just fine on my sites. Well, except that every now and then there is a slowdown on one MySQL database.
For years I did try every CMS package, including Typo3 back in 1998/1999. At that time, Typo3 was not mature enough and I was just learning HTML, so I looked at all CMS's available, including mambos and nukes. Neither one was good enough for me. I prefer not to elaborate on this subject though.
Some 3 weeks ago I did resume my research and rediscovered Typo3. Definitely is my choice. In less than three weeks I have learned the basics of Typo3 on my local machine, created my own full CSS template (no tables, no garbage), coded all my needs and as a result I got what I was looking for in years: clean and validated pages. I think I'm ready to give a try on a real server. However, I have some concerns:
1. The site I wish to convert to Typo3 uses 500 MB of disk space and is visited by around 3000 visitors daily. Is the MySQL server fast enough to handle that load?
2. What's the best approach to import some 6000 static HTML pages into Typo3?
I’ll be glad to hear about your experience, if any, converting medium or large size old garbaged HTML pages into a CMS.
Thanks
