    Thank you!

    Hi Everyone,

Well it has only taken a year+ but finally, here is my first post on the JaguarPC Forum. I apologize for taking so long to get involved, but better late than never. When I first joined a little over one year ago, I was a bit gun shy after several bad web hosting experiences and decided to lay low for a while and just survive!

I would like to start by saying thank you to all have posted on a regular basis and selflessly shared their time and information on this forum. You have made it into one of the best communities on the web associated directly with a web hosting company. Most hosting companies don't dare take a chance on "airing the dirty laundry"; I applaud JaguarPC's open policy. They care for their clients enough to host a dedicated and open forum.

Many of the forum members come to mind when I think of frequent contributors over the past few months. At the risk of missing some, here are folks I would like to recognize: Vin DSL, jason, Jag, Spathiphyllum, clssam, Julian Muñoz, Ron, Gwaihir, gerilya and the_ancient as listed by their usernames in order of post count. There are definitely more contributors, but the group I just listed have been very consistent over the past few months/years. Thank you for your contributions to the forum!

I have updated my profile so you can get to know me a bit. For the purposes of this forum, I suppose I could be considered an average client within the shared hosting service. I have five domains that I manage using a single main account for one domain and hosting the other four as multi-hosted domains. Having started over a year ago I began with the GigaDeal. This hosting package has served me well and I still have lots of room to grow.

My busiest site is actually one of my multi-hosted domains. It gets 3,000 – 4,000 unique visitors per month. The web site features news, race results and info for a stock car series in Ontario, Canada. The cars are super late model stock cars with Outlaw bodies. If you’re into stock car racing, you may find this site of interest - www.oscaar.ca

My web design skills are basic but the desire to learn and get better is strong. Over the past year I have focused on applying CSS to HTML pages. I have also played with installing some scripts and packages, some through CPanel and some on my own. The latest one was to purchase vBulletin and install it myself. My interest over the next year is to pick up skills with PHP and MySQL.

I have been very pleased with my web hosting experience at JaguarPC. The professional, courteous and informed staff members have solidly backed the company’s promise to deliver on service and tech support. The hosting rates are very reasonable and the plans allow for a variety of user ability and site activity. I feel confident that when the time comes I will be able to move to a more advanced plan and still receive the same great service afforded to clients on the most basic hosting plan.

In the past 14 months since first signing up with JaguarPC, my web sites have been running almost continuously. There have been no overall network problems. The only down time that I was aware of came when my local server had a power supply problem and was down for a couple of hours during the night. No support ticket was required and everything was up and running fine the next morning when I checked.

So in conclusion, a big thank you also goes out to Greg, Masood, Les, Eric, Ryan and the rest of the staff at JaguarPC!

Thanks Ron and Connie for the welcome!

Ron, your web site on Old English Sheep Dogs is an amazing resource! I had taken the URL to pass along to a staff member at work only to find that she already had it bookmarked and was a frequent visitor - you are a legend!

Connie, I like your e-commerce web site also - clean look, easy to navigate and lots of cool product! Was also interested in your spam-whackers site on SEO and will now be taking a closer look.

    Really? That's so cool!

While it's about OES, many people find it who are looking for general dog info. The most popular pages are about general topics, and we're really fortunate that it has pretty good positioning in Google's results pages.

You're right on with the positioning in Google - that's how she found your site. Her search parameters were specific - she is the proud owner of an OES dog!

    Don McLeod,

Welcome to the boards. Glad to see that our mud-flinging didn't discourage you. Just don't bring up Mac versus PC or Bush versus Kerry and you'll do fine.

That's one heckuvan introduction. I think I know you better than some of my neighbors.

Liked your site. Nice, clean, and efficient. As to your hobby, my best friend used to race in CART years ago. He doesn't anymore but I know he and his dad loved doing it at the time. Kind of an expensive hobby when sponsors aren't in a giving mood. Good luck with your domain and start your engines!

Thanks Todd (Spathiphyllum)! Gotta admit I'm not a big fan of mud-slinging but I've seen a lot worse on some of the racing boards. It got so bad on some local boards that they self-destructed. I took a different approach with the OSCAAR VB forum and set it up for members only and real names req'd for usernames. We have been blown away by the response and people coming out of the woodwork who avoided discussion boards at all costs.

Doing the OSCAAR web site has been a lot of fun and has got my wife and I behind the scenes and into the pits - really getting to know the drivers and folks who work hard to support local stock car racing. It also achieved my goal of taking on a bigger web development project; the learning curve has been steep and rewarding. I highly recommend this to anyone starting out in web design. Volunteer your services and get involved.

Mac vs PC, Bush vs Kerry - I can keep my nose clean on those subjects . But I have to give praise to our new Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, for recently visiting Canadian troops in Afghanistan and pledging continued support for their mission. It is a welcome change in appreciation for the hard-working men and women currently stationed in that country.

On the subject of CART, I haven't been a big follower of that series, but something of interest for Canadians is 2003 CART Champion Paul Tracy competing in a few races in the NASCAR Busch Series this year. He along with road course expert Ron Fellows are the most famous Canadian names to hit the NASCAR circuits in recent years.

Now, the most imortant question: Todd, Spath, Spathiphyllum - which one would you prefer in direct correspondence!?! By the way, you have done a great job with your histosoft website!

Greg - soak it up, all the praise is very well deserved. You can't live on a regular diet of mud-slinging!

If you are looking for more testimonials, as you can tell, I'm a happy camper - feel free to pick and choose from my opening post. Any Q's just PM and I'll do my best to help.
