    Php and Mambo/Joomla problem.

From this morning one of my client site on Jaguar servers (www.forummonza.info) have problems with file permissions and other. Looking on this forum I discovered that there was a change on php. The internal mambo/joomla SEO system uses .htaccess file to set internal url, so I think that the problems are about the new php setup on Jaguar.

I have 5 different account and almost all using mambo or joomla. Have I to expect similar problems on all the account/sites? How can I fix it? without .htaccess the internal URL are very very long and difficult (for ex: http://www.forummonza.info/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&i d=677&Itemid=29 instead http://www.forummonza.info/content/view/22/27/).

The announcement said that new servers would be configured with PHP running in CGI mode and that existing serers would be converted to work that way over time. Since there have been no further announcements, I don't think any servers have been converted yet. If you are having problems that just started occuring on a site that otherwise hasn't changed (you didn't just move the site to a new server/host, for example), then I don't think the PHP change is to blame. Further, the PHP change only effects users that have made configuration changes to PHP, which I'm not sure is all that common.

It sounds like you are having problems with URL rewriting, which won't be affected by the PHP change.

Since I can't really look at how your site is configured, I can only make a few suggestions, but from the sample URL's you posted it looks like your rewrites aren't being executed. Could you PM me the the contents of your .htaccess file so I can see how it is set up (or post it here if you are comfortable doing so). I might be able to help you fix it or at least make further suggestions.

Thank you very much. I fix it, I suppose. Since yesterday on our account they are appeared a lot of _vti files and folders. I don't know how, but someone have installed frontpage extensions, so the old .htaccess file was erased.
I've just uninstalled that damned extensions and reuploaded the default mambo htaccess file and all seems work fine.
How the extensions have been installed is a mystery.

    Ciao
