Who did I consider and why did I choose JaguarPC?

I am a newbie to these forums, also a newbie to JaguarPC hosting, but yesterday I had a LOT of questions, which I asked Greg, during the ensuing conversation, he asked why I chose Jaguar, and who else I considered, this thread is the answer to that question.

I run a small but reasonably successful digital photography forum, we are known and respected by the major manufacturers, and even loaned equipment from time to time, I NEEDED a new host because although my existing hosts were always trying to help, the simple fact is the server I am on has fallen over at least once every day for the last three months, and sometimes ten or twelve times in a single day, that is not acceptable I'm sure you will agree.

Having found WHT I spent days just reading through the forums, to see who offered what at what price, and how they dealt with their customers, a number of companies came up as worth consideration, JaguarPC was one of them.

I also considered EuroVPS, A2B2, Knownhost, PowerVPS, iicvps and one or two others initially, I then made a decision on the budget I was looking to spend, so far nothing unusual, I am certain you will agree.

EuroVPS had a new offering based around HspComplete, that was VERY interesting, but it was also way beyond my abilities to run, I spent days reading the manuals contacting the relevant support team (Who were truly excellent I have to say) and trying to learn. I even had a server for a few days, and to be honest it was a nightmare, I wasn't a techie, just a user, and that plan was just to hard to learn (for me anyway). IF I was a Linux specialist with years of experience running my own servers, then it might have been the perfect plan, it was extremely well priced, and the company were very nice, but the plan came with no support, and was totally unmanaged.

I then contacted a couple of the other companies on my list who came within my budget, and I asked a LOT of questions, Greg must have had nightmares about me last night, however he answered everything in a clear and concise manner, he could have sold me a plan that was more expensive, but instead he suggested I try the lower plan, and if that wasn't suitable upgrade, that way I wouldn't be wasting my money, Greg asked why I went no further and decided to buy from his company there and then, the simple answer is he was honest, he tried to help, not rip me off for every penny/cent he could and he was a nice guy as well!

In other words I chose Jaguar because of the SERVICE and HELP he gave me, with an attitude like this Jaguar PC deserves to succeed and become a market leader in this arena, If the server is half as good as the man behind it, I expect to be very happy indeed!!

P.S. I am based in the UK, but in the world of the INTERNET distance is not a problem for this company so it seems!

    Rebel,

Welcome to JPC. Your story sounds like many of ours do. JPC is, hands down, the best host with whom I've done business (and I've worked with many hosts--for my own sites as well as those that my client's use).

My story is similar. I was using one of those "We'll give you the world" types of host--unlimited bandwidth and 200Mb of space (back what that was huge) for some ridiculously low price. Everything was great until one moring I woke up and my site was gone. After trying to contact tech support for a couple days I gave up and started searching for a new host. I was looking through a hosting directory site for someone with a plan that fit my needs and budget and I came across JPC. They were running a special at the time that was perfect for me, so after considering them for a couple more days I took the plunge--signing up, perhaps foolishly--for a full year of service. Long story short, 5 years and a gazillion forum posts later, I'm still here.

When I first signed up, JPC was a relatively small company. At the time they were colocating a few servers in someone else's data center. That level of service that you've already experienced is what has made JPC what they are today. Now they own a state of the art data center and they've added many features--like the VPS plans you just opened--and they are growing every day.

Don't worry, the quality of support that you've already received won't go away. You'll be happy here for a long time. Best of luck with your site and welcome to the community.

My Cisco instructor recommended JaguarPC to me, they're my first host, and judging from the tech-support, they'll be my only host

    Hello everyone!

I would like to take this moment to introduce myself.

I just signed up with Jag hosting just after Rebel007, I have done about 2 weeks of solid searching of VPS hosting companies. Even ordered VPS hosting from my shared hosting provider (who shall remain nameless). But quickly found out the support was not what it was cracked up to be. (not a managed server)
I also found I could search around, and risk another "good looking deal", but finally decided to ask the good folks at WHT what they recommended. I would say it was at least a 90% response in favor of Jag.

So I finally managed to dump my other VPS hosting company today, and signed up with Jag, I know with the wonderful help I have already recieved from Jag (most notably, Greg, who so dilligently answered all my questions) that I will be much happier with this company, if not at the least, with the more personal support and care for their customers, even prospects. It was a breath of fresh air, and I would like to thank you, especially Greg, and I look forward to a long and fruitful relationship.

    Hey yeah!

It has been really great so far.
The Technical staff never sleeps I think!
The are very good at getting back to you quickly... unlike my old provider, who just fixed an FTP connectivity problem 3 weeks after I submitted the ticket. *rolls eyes*
