I am a newbie to these forums, also a newbie to JaguarPC hosting, but yesterday I had a LOT of questions, which I asked Greg, during the ensuing conversation, he asked why I chose Jaguar, and who else I considered, this thread is the answer to that question.
I run a small but reasonably successful digital photography forum, we are known and respected by the major manufacturers, and even loaned equipment from time to time, I NEEDED a new host because although my existing hosts were always trying to help, the simple fact is the server I am on has fallen over at least once every day for the last three months, and sometimes ten or twelve times in a single day, that is not acceptable I'm sure you will agree.
Having found WHT I spent days just reading through the forums, to see who offered what at what price, and how they dealt with their customers, a number of companies came up as worth consideration, JaguarPC was one of them.
I also considered EuroVPS, A2B2, Knownhost, PowerVPS, iicvps and one or two others initially, I then made a decision on the budget I was looking to spend, so far nothing unusual, I am certain you will agree.
EuroVPS had a new offering based around HspComplete, that was VERY interesting, but it was also way beyond my abilities to run, I spent days reading the manuals contacting the relevant support team (Who were truly excellent I have to say) and trying to learn. I even had a server for a few days, and to be honest it was a nightmare, I wasn't a techie, just a user, and that plan was just to hard to learn (for me anyway). IF I was a Linux specialist with years of experience running my own servers, then it might have been the perfect plan, it was extremely well priced, and the company were very nice, but the plan came with no support, and was totally unmanaged.
I then contacted a couple of the other companies on my list who came within my budget, and I asked a LOT of questions, Greg must have had nightmares about me last night, however he answered everything in a clear and concise manner, he could have sold me a plan that was more expensive, but instead he suggested I try the lower plan, and if that wasn't suitable upgrade, that way I wouldn't be wasting my money, Greg asked why I went no further and decided to buy from his company there and then, the simple answer is he was honest, he tried to help, not rip me off for every penny/cent he could and he was a nice guy as well!
In other words I chose Jaguar because of the SERVICE and HELP he gave me, with an attitude like this Jaguar PC deserves to succeed and become a market leader in this arena, If the server is half as good as the man behind it, I expect to be very happy indeed!!
P.S. I am based in the UK, but in the world of the INTERNET distance is not a problem for this company so it seems!
