New Google Toolbar: http://www.google.com/support/toolba...es.html&v=2.0fGoogle Inc. has released in beta an upgrade of its toolbar for Mozilla Corp.'s Firefox browser.
Google Toolbar 2 for Firefox includes the ability to move an RSS feed from a site to a person's personalized homepage on Google or a number of other feed readers. In addition, the upgrade provides easier access to previous search queries, and suggestions for popular choices from search results.
For Google Web mail subscribers, the "mailto:links" in Firefox open a compose window in Gmail, eliminating the need to copy and paste email addresses. To combat phishing, a "safe-browsing" extension has been added to the toolbar to alert users when a page is likely to try to steal personal data.
Features in the Firefox toolbar, which was released this week, are not identical to those in Toolbar 4 for Microsoft Corp.'s Internet Explorer, because of the differences in technology. Google, however, tries to duplicate the most popular in both.
