    How to delete comments

    Hello everybody,

I am a beginner and I'm in charge with two other
persons for my site. From time to time, there's a
troublemaker who fill thousand comments on one
of our article. I have to delete our whole text to delete
the malicious comments with, because it's a fastidious
job to delete them one by one. Can anybody help me
to deal with this? Is there any script for this or to control
the posting before it goes public?

    Thanks,
    NGT

    Dear Patrick,
We still using PHP 4 of Francesco Burzi. We don't dare migrate to upper version, because we are still beginner. The person who mount our site has quit our group and we are still crawling bit by bit to wholly comprehend his mounting. May be
I am annoying you with stupid question. Here what we have learn so far:
-how to establish the FTP files, dowload and upload
-how to post our articles (basic html)+add images
-how to back up our files

It sounds as though you are using some kind of blogging tool. Do you log in to a website somewhere to post your articles? Most of the popular blogging software that's available has some way of controlling comment spam (which it soounds like you are getting).

Could you post a link to your site? With athat we might be able to figure out what you are using and make further suggestions.

Given the name your dropped (Francesco Burzi), it sounds like you are using PHP-Nuke to run your site.

I'm not a Nuke user, so I can't be of much help, but I know there are others who use it on these boards. I'm sure they'll be able to help you out.

Like Jason, i am not familiar with PHP-Nuke either, but know enough it is mysql driven, if you look for a quick way to remove the comments you could use phpmyadmin probably to remove the post as well, but not sure which table and what you need to remove exactly. (guess i am not much of help there either).

But that is not a sollution to your problem, it would still mean that spammers can use your comments to put in garbage, and you still need to clean (maybe faster as before, but still).

Mostly you can make comments only available for members, or sometimes using something called Captcha (i am almost sure there will be implementations for your blog tool as well). Even though Captcha is not stopping all of them, i will stop most of them.

    Kindest regards,
    Patrick

yes but nuke stores comments in a database, and it sounds like he has some kind of flat file system going....

    ngthuong,

Maybe a good idea to tell us which site it is, so we can see what exactly you are using, and what actions you might be able to take to solve your issue.

    Kindest regards,
    Patrick

    So it's : PHP-Nuke Copyright © 2004 by Francisco Burzi

Indeed, my first remark would be: Upgrade

I am not sure, but this seems like a very old version, and therefor you are lucky its only spam in the comments. As worse things can happen. But there must be a lot of ready made sollutions for php-nuke, i am sure people here can help you with that. But if you are indeed running an old version, i am not to sure..

    Kindest regards,
    Patrick
