You have to have a Google Analytic account before any code would do you any good, and then the code would have to be generated for your site. I think there is a long waiting list to get the account.

AFAIK, there are NO invitations (like Gmail)...

I started posting here about Goggle Analytics going *free* an hour after it happened -- used to be like $500/month. Some ppl jumped on it, but those that procrastinated were put on a waiting list -- and I think there's been a waiting list ever since -- same as the *free* Google web hosting offer, et cetera.

If you snooze, you lose, a lot of times...

I can't give you the page but Google for Google analytics or something like that.

They do have a page somewhere to sign up to get on the waiting list. Fortunately I got in before they changed from an open invitation to having to be put on a list.

So many people signed up initially that Google servers could not handle the load. So now they only let so many people in at a time.

See Vins comments above. Google bought Urchin which was very expensive, and then offered it for free. One difference is that all the information is now on Googles servers, rather than your PC.

Personally I don't think it is all that great, and seldom check the stats. To each his own.

Matt personally I'm not all that impressed with Google Analytics. there is only a couple of things they show that my 30.00 tracking script does not show.

The problem is that when Google announced free Urchin tracking the web went wild.

I didn't say it was the be-all, end-all. It's nice. It's yet another stats package.

Everybody goes wild whenever Google does anything, no matter how good it is.

I know that. I agree it is another package to compare with other stats packages.

I don't think it will do that. If It does I would be interested in some more information.
