    phpMyAdmin version 2.8.1 is a bugfix-only release for the 2.8 family. It also fixes a new vulnerability, see the upcoming security alert PMASA-2006-3 at:

    My previously mentioned conversations with 'nijel' have netted results, but he doesn't seem to be interested in patching a couple of bugs in the 'cookie auth' section until version 2.9 is released -- so, to whom it may concern, here is my hack:

    /libraries/auth/cookie.auth.lib.php

    It's a cosmetic fix (added some table cells), plus it denies access to server runtime stats, et cetera, by unauthorized persons using 'blank' passwords (security patch)...
