    Search function

    Hi all,

I just joined here to read through some posts, and possibly decided whether to open an account with JaguarPC.

Is there something wrong with the search function? It seems very intermittent, sometimes it works but most of the time search generates a `page cannot be displayed` error.

    Thanks.

Ps. Edit that, trying to post a message sometimes throws up a `page cannot be displayed`.

Sorry for the double topic, I was getting errors galore!!

Nope, I`ve tried using search feature for the last half an hour but all I get when hitting hitting the search/go button is `page cannot be displayed`.

I am getting tons of "page cannot be displayed" errors on this forum for the past few days, thoguht it was just me. Almost everytime I post or edit a post it comes up with that error, but it's already processed the action. Very strange; some redirect must be screwey.

Posting and editing still works for me. The search however is fried: it seems to post itself twice, so all I get is the "you need to wait 10 secs". Only from IE though. FF works fine.

Note: that's except for the "new posts" search. That one still does work.

Just tried again this morning. Soon as I hit (go/search now) I get `page cannot be displayed`

Same goes when trying to respond to a topic or start a new one, in fact anything involving submitting something gives the same error.

Firefox firing on all cylinders here. All searches working.

MSIE? Who knows. Is that browser still around?

    sumacbob,
Are you accessing the forum from "www.jaguarpc.com/forums/"? This forum used to be accessible via multiple domain names and, depending on the referer, one experienced different levels of response. If you aren't, then go to the front door (see previous) and browse from there. If you are, then I don't know. Maybe it's a session cookie thing.

    Yes, I`m accessing from
    www.jaguarpc.com/forums/

I guess for now I`ll have to go through the forums page by page!!!!

Ps. As for posting, quick reply seems to work, but when I try a full reply then I get those page errors.

only way I see to get it to work in IE is leaving the redirection page on.

    Hrm... Well...

I haven't had ANY problems, and I'm on this web board more than anybody (except Google) I'm sure!

Then, again, I use 'Portable Firefox' 1.5.0.4 on the road, and Firefox 1.0.8(ax) here at the abode!

    Gawd! Ppl still you MSIE?

I thought they were just spoofing the UA to be 'funny'...

    You know what, Chief...

Thinking about it... it's probably that stupid time delay that was implemented, when you upgraded VB. That thing sucks!!!

I assume what's happening is VB is caching/buffering the request, then it redirects after the 'flag' is reset, e.g. the timer is satisfied.

Seems like a lot of added complexity, just to preclude the occasional joker from flooding the board with search requests!
