i think its my isp.... any suggestions....

    Alright, small issue...

When I'm home I can't see any of my sites (hosted on Jag VPS).... and when I'm in my office they work.... 2 different isp's

I've called my home isp to inquire and they tell me all is fine on their end... jag says all is fine at their.... so what is one to do?

I've thought that it may be the dns servers at my isp failing (or looping) or something, but the ISP thinks I'm on crack and won't check....

    any ideas?

First, are these sites that were moved recently? If so, your home ISP may be caching the old IP address in their DNS servers and directing you to a site that no longer exists.

Can you connect to the server by IP? Are tehre other sites configured to the same IP,, and if so, do they work?

Have you tried doing a traceroute to see if there is a breakdown somewhere in the path between your house and JPC?

    Just some ideas...

Sorry to bump this, but I'm having the exact same problem and didnt want to create a new thread when this one existed.

My site, wwww.stunthq.net rarely works from my house, but I can access it anywhere else.

    What could cause this?

Edit: It just wont resolve, at all. However, www.wtfblogs.com always works for me, and it's hosted on the same machine -- it's one of my multihosted domains.

In my case it was my ISP's dns. As my isp is slow, I just used a different dns server on my computer and the problem was solved.

That worked for me..... not sure but it may help...

It can take up to 2 days for a properly configured DNS cache to expire so that you can see your domain.

If you tried looking at your domain from your home computer before it was properly registered and dns for it properly set up, your home ISP may have cached the non-existant or incorrect results, so you may have to wait a couple of days.

    Gopod luck.

I've had my domain for months though, and about half the time it has this problem. I'm not savvy when it comes to these things unfortunately.

Just sent an email to my ISP. Here's hoping they can figure it out.

I can access it fine with the secure**.nocdirect......... link, but not through my domain.

I do appreciate the replies though guys.

Bah! Just use JagPC's DNS servers and forgot the ones at your ISP!

The last time I checked, the Jag servers were still open...

Oops! I should have kept reading! Apologies...

Anyway, JagPC DNS servers should work too!

Sorry for the stupid question, but how do I use the jag dns servers? I put in ns3.jaguarpc.com and ns4.jaguarpc.com, but i can only access this site and ones hosted by jagpc now.

I've been having a similar problem. Sometimes I cannot access one of my sites, but I can access the other sites - and they are all hosted on the same jaguar server. I'm using Verizon for an ISP.

It's a sporadic problem, so I haven't had the chance to do a tracert yet. Jaguar only suggested that recently.

All of the sites are old and haven't moved within the past nine months.

My one theory for why I'm having this problem is that I shouldn't be using the ns1.aletia.com nameserver and should move over to jaguarpc's name servers.

That sounds about right to me.

I fear that last time is a while ago then. IIRC, Masood posted somewhere in the last six months that this would no longer be the case. I think the reason was something about folk finding some way to abuse the open nature, so JagPC nameservers now only answer for those domains they are responsible for; the ones hosted here.

In that case, here's the hot setup... the one I use!
    • Preferred DNS server (Primary): 209.48.2.11
    • Alternate DNS server (Secondary): [whatever]

Here's another trick, if you don't trust me...
    • Preferred DNS server (Primary): [secondary IP at your ISP]
    • Alternate DNS server (Secondary): [primary IP at your ISP]

Most ppl are sheep, and mindlessly follow their ISP's instructions. As a consequence, the primary IP addy is often overused. By 'flipping' these IPs around, you'll might be the only person using that IP, wink, wink...
