Introduction: from aletiaforums

Hi folks,

Lots of the aletia folks have started migrating here. So I'm coming around too. I just wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Julie and I live in Boston. Currently I'm a student and a web designer/developer. I'm still hanging around Aletia/Jag to help out, because that is what I love to do, help people out. If you guys ever need design help or some php/mysql help, please feel free to contact me.

Unfortunately I'm suffocating in college interviews, applications, and information sessions right now.

But after December, I'll be alive and perky again.

Starting the old post count all over again, like the rest of us I see. Wonder if we'll all see that take a big jump when they finally merge the forums?

It's nice to see that some of the 'later Aletia additions' can be ahead of those who have always been there (at least from my point of view ), post-count-wise (No, of course it doesn't really matter! )

Seeing clio's offer though, I think I'll get my feet wet and post a message in the 'showcase' since my site is soon going commercial, and although I am amazed at the design I did all by myself, I realize it's not very 'up to date'

I'm John, who you've seen around at one time or another at the Aletia forums -- and a little bit here. Nice to see the regulars around.

I'm sure that others will join, Kiwi Li. I just think that for many it's easier to stick around at the Aletia forums while they're still active. In the meantime, it's nice to see you and others who'd been long-time Aletia clients but who'd been quiet in the last months.

bah, it's not about post count, heh. I'm still busy More college interviews to do. More school to miss. I HATE making up work for classes. Oh well.

about the posts, I probably won't post as much as at Aletia because I'm not really a customer anymore, so I don't have the familiarity with these servers necessary to give proper advice. But general stuff like web designs and coding I will help to the best of my abilities, provided that I have enough time.

I'm cutting a meeting a City Hall right now. That's how crunched I am. I'm posting because I need a break from evil calculus!

Hello fellow Aletia refuges. For some of us this is just another rest stop on the nomadic quest that has been Aletia/now JaguarPC.

Having survived 3 server moves at Aletia in less than a year, and now another to Jag, I have migrated over to my new home and these forums. I hit a few potholes along the way but I managed to make it. Hopefully I can unpack now.

Hi Everyone...
I kind of found out the hard way that aletia has been acquired by jaguar.

All of a sudden on 10/26 my email stopped working. For some reason when they switched my account, the id and passwords got messed up.

I'm still feeling that as of today. Hopefully everything will work out. How's the tech support team here? pretty responsive and knowledgeable?

I've been browsing the forums and it seems like there's a great bunch of people here. Glad to be aboard.

Just a quick post as I'm attempting to find out why my site went p00f, isn't reachable on it's new ip (on Xenon apparently, as I just read on the old forum) while it IS still reachable on the old one... joy.

So ehm, hi, and hopefully a more enthusiastic next post soon.

There are mixed reports at the moment. Some people (including me) seem to get prompt responses to tickets, and not a lot of problems during the move. Some others say they have to wait long for answers or don't get them at all (just browse around the forums, you'll see both types of posts).

There are a few techs around browsing the forums here (including Jag, apparently the owner of JPC) and it seems to be getting more crowded recently, like the aletia forums.

Considering JPC did a major acquisition AND move it's own office across a great distance I'd say they do a pretty good job.

(Of course you could argue that they shouldn't have done both at the same time, but many of us former-aletia-ers feel they 'came to our rescue' after Aletia started falling apart.)

Welcome fellow refugees and seekers of information. Or should I say Aletia emigrants, as Jkeller so eloquently puts it (except in French)? I would have said hello earlier, except I was a bit cranky today, putting up with unexpected server and forum woes.
