    Specious insult to Muslims...

    Found this today.

The blog cites a report from MEMRI that an Islamic website decried Apple's new cube building in NY. Having read the article on MEMRI, I can't believe it's anything more than stirring the pot.

    At least, I hope it's a joke...

I doubt it. The practitioners on the fringe of religion of the perpetually outraged continue to project their grievances, however contrived, upon others. MEMRI more and more serves as the western world's conduit for radical rhetoric.

At any rate, I doubt this thread will be long for this world.

While we're at it, lokki, why don't we post some Mohammed cartoons? I understand they've become quite popular in some domains. Perhaps MEMRI has a press release on the matter somewhere.

I would actually like to see what all the fuss is about. South Park has "Jesus and Friends" in the show, but Comedy Central won't allow them to do anything remotely similar with Muhammed.... such hypocrisy...

You really have to ask that question?

People seem to think they have the right NOT to be offended. when in reality I have the right to OFFEND people

A right I try to excerise on a regular basis

Ooops... Hell just froze over. I actually agree with you. My own caveat is that I choose to try and refrain from unintended offense when protocol demands it. This is subject to my own interpretation, of course, and I routinely ignore those who are too easily offended.

On the other hand, I've got a few targets at work for whom I go the extra mile. I spend time concocting ways to offend them very subtly. One is a lady who decided the word 'retarded' is offensive and asked that it not be used in her presence. So, I made it a goal to use 'retarded' in legitimate context as often as possible, in as many variations as possible, usually in large meetings.

    Unfortunately, she was my boss.

Hey... I never said I was bright or anything.

A priest, a rabbi, and a muslim cleric walk into a bar. Ok, I was swinging it at the time, but they were actually walking, so technically...

Soo, My last boss I cussed out on a weekly basis because he was a moron that only got the job because he was the high school friend of the owner.

I was not fired for that BTW 2mos after this dip was promoted I quit and told him the company was on the way out the door of their only client, 6mos after that the only client of my former employer tells "they no longer need their services"

I called him later that day and said "I told you soo"

I try very hard to not be offended.

I find it a very difficult thing to do.

I am quite easily not offended. I have no problem with crosses on public land, so long as others are not restricted from placing their own symbols. I am a minority at work, and made to feel that way several times per week.

The only things that seriously offend me are 'truthiness' and applied willful ignorance. So, I spend a lot of time offended.

I guess I should be offended, but I'm too busy snickering.

Good thing we live somewhere that truism still holds. Most of the world, that isn't true. Oh sure, some complain that loss of credibility, attention, or financial gain due to countering public opinions is "oppressive", but such disingenuity serves as quite a spectacle. We're still free to call them buffoons and frauds.

Of course our rights do not absolve us from the responsibility to exercise them reasonably.
