    Reseller Setup

    Hi,

Just got my VPS account set up.

I am trying to set up a reseller account and haven't found too much information about it.

I like to be able to go to cPanel and have all accounts listed there, so that I can see statistics on all sites instead of logging on and off.

I assigned reseller status to example.com but when going to example.com:2086 it list all accounts and not just the reseller accounts.

If anybody knows a good write up about the subject, I would really appreciate it.

    Regards........Nick

Nick can you clearify? Are you looking at the list of accounts in CPanel or WHM (Web Host Manager)? If it is WHM you can see which account is owned by whom on the far right. Or generate the list based on reseller owner.

This is found under Account Information -> List Accounts in WHM.

    Hi Frank,

They're doing emergency mtce on my server, do maybe that's why it wasn't working properly in the first place.

I made an error I meant 2082 as for in cPanel.

I had a reseller account before and I could see all sites when I logged into cPanel.

I love all the options in WHM, but there is a little bit of a learning curve.

    Q:
When I create a reseller account with a dedicated IP address, then later re-assign one of the sites to that IP address, does that site automatically become part of the reseller sites ?

Maybe dumb questions, and propably only needed once when setting up, but as I said there is not much info out there.

Will try some setting when the server is back up

I think what he is trying to do is to stop his reseller from viewing all the accounts on the server. If i am correct you need to go to the reseller centre in WHM, select the reseller from the dropdown list, edit the reseller’s privileges, and check the box that says “Disallow creation of accounts with packages that are not global or not owned by this user”. This if I am correct will stop the reseller from viewing server wide accounts and packages. Only the accounts he/she has created will show up.

I'm not sure if that answered your question but if it didn't could you try and explain in a bit more depth on what you want to do?

No that ip does then not belong to the reseller it now belongs to the site you have transferd the ip to. or do you mean pointing a site to a resellers ip I:E nameservers?
If so no that ip will just point to the server where the users account is on.

have you read the cPanel / WHM readme? it should help you get a better understanding of WHM.

    Nick,

Do as Rob suggested. Get the docs for WHM and Cpanel. They are kinda cryptive but helpful. Printing out and reading the complete docs was one of the first things I did when I started a VPS here at JaguarPC.

Make sure you read these items here at Jag:
    http://www.jaguarpc.com/services/resellers/howto.php
    http://www.jaguarpc.com/services/resellers/features.php
    http://www.jaguarpc.com/support/tuto...?list=cp_whm_x

Some basic stuff there but helpful.

Yes thanks, that was one of questions I had. [I would have never come up with the answer on that one <g>]

Server still down so I can't test anything out right now

I have been using cPanel / WHM a couple of years now, so it is just the new features I am checking out.

The cPanel Docs on account creation tells you nothing about the two reseller check boxes at the bottom.

This was supposed to be my day checking out reseller features but so far the server has been down most of the day.

So thanks Rob [and Frank], I will be back when everything is back to normal.

    Have a nice weekend,

    Nick
