a dedicated server is a server of your own, ie, your own computer.
a virtual server is one that is virtual, ie, many servers on one computer.
if you do a search in google it will answer most your questions, or ask here!

You don't necessarily own a dedicated server. I think that would be colocataion. Being on a dedicated server means your the only site hosted on the server. You have full control of the server and are responsible for software upgrades etc. Who ever you rent the server from would be responsible for hardware failures.
Never looked up virtual server but I would assume that means the same thing as a VPS, which is a shared server, but you have the same kind of control over your space that you would if you were on a dedicated server. But there will be more than one site on a VPS so it is a shared server.
I think most sites on the web are probably on a shared server. That means a lot of sites hosted on the same server.
And there are plans in between dedicated, VPS, and shared, depending on the host.

The best answer I can give is; you dont really need to know the lingo. Just tell us what your site is or what you need it to do and we will set you up where you need to be. We'll start you out on the lowest priced plan that fits your needs and hopefully watch it grow. Updating, upgrading, and so on are all part of what we do so when you need more we can make it happen.
