BTW, I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but...

I've been running the 'standalone' version of WinSCP for a couple of years. That way, I can run around with WinSCP in my pocket via USB thumb drive, easily run it across my LAN without fiddling around with the .ini file, yada, yada.

I much prefer it to the regular version!

I upgraded this morning. I like the features they've added. May be my imagination, but it seems to be a lot faster on file transfers too.

I do have a question in general that I've been meaning to ask for sometime. Is there a way to get get WinSCP to download certain files in binary automatically, or do you always have to manually tell WinSCP when to download in binary?

There is a list of automatic types in the options (I think?)
    Good luck

The only thing you can set is auto for txt files. If you do not manually select binary WinSCP will always upload and download in ASCII format.

However, due to the upgrade this is not quite as much a problem because when you upload or download WinSCP ask how to do the file transfer. That is a reminder at least and you can select the transfer mode in the download window.
